We chose to stay at Waves Resort as a kind of romantic break. Due to a late booking all that was left was the Penthouse suite...what the heck at $400 a night it must be good. Check-in fine, parking fine, the room...BIG but dirty, and pretty dam tired with paint pealing off benchtops and cupboards and built up grime on most surfaces. The much hyped king-bed was topped with a mattress worthy of the dump while the lounge..ready to be converted into more bedding at a moment's notice (at extra cost of course) was shoved up against the wall and as comfortable as 2nd class seating on a train in India. Yes all was functional but hardly Penthouse. Someone it seemed had decided to upgrade the bathroom to what I guess approached penthouse standard, but now taking a shower meant a climb over a huge spa wall..not to mention a build-up of water post shower everywhere around the holy-spa. We hadn't been to Byron for about 15 years..the shock of its tourism overload and accompanying over the top prices leaves a bit of a nasty taste in the mouth. Especially when your hotel doesn't bother to service your room and when you ask why all you get is a shrug of the shoulders and a couple more tubes of shampoo. The free muffins were a nice touch...a shame that the free-wine tasting they offered never materialised. At time of booking we were well aware the building was old but thought maybe the interior may have had some work done on it...alas no. All in all not too impressed, but the French Restaurant in town is a cracker

Room Tip: try the hotel which blocks most of your view from Waves Resort...its right in front of it and is muc...

Dear Guest

Thank you for submitting your review as this is the best possible way for us to improve our service and experience for our valued guests. We have made enquires regarding your booking, and in particular the two issues of wine service and room servicing. Our housekeeping staff have reported that due to a "Do Not Disturb" sign being on your penthouse they respected your wishes and did not enter to service the rooms which are done daily. A note was subsequently left under your door to contact Reception. Regarding the Wine Service, it was offered in the foyer on the advertised night until 6.45pm, which is 15min shorter than the advertised time due to lack of guests that particular night, so please accept our apologies. We would have been very happy to offer it to again if we had been made aware.
We do value feedback, and hope that we may be able to welcome you back again and enhance your next experience.

My husband an I went on a romantic weekend away. We arrived at Waves which is across the road from the beach.. fantastic location. We were in a corner room and thought this might have been a problem with noise but we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet and peaceful it was. We enjoyed a lovely snooze in the comfy bed and our room had a lovely outdoor area where we sat and enjoyed snacks and beverages. We were delighted with the selection of breakfast items and coffee available for breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly but discreet and respectful of privacy.

We just had a fabulous weekend away here where nothing was too much trouble. The staff were friendly and courteous, offering little touches that made all the difference. Great location near the beach and markets and very central. Really didn't want to leave, loved it and hope to be back soon..

We stayed 2 nights in the Lawson Suite, as the other north facing suite was already booked.

The room was very spacious, lots of windows to let in the sunshine (but can be darkened with the curtains) and a very large balcony that was bathed in morning sun. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature was just right and the bathroom was nice and roomy as well, in fact it was quite a contrast with the black marble compared to the more conservative colours and decore of the living spaces.

The location was the big plus for this hotel making it an easy walk to everywhere around town and the beach. The hotel is a boutique hotel and our suite was on the first floor - the penthouse is on top. You can use the lift or walk down the stairs on the side of the building to access Lawson St. There is undercover secure parking with direct access to the street.

We choose not to have the muffins and coffee at the hotel but rather check out the cafes in town. We did try to get into Dip on Fletcher St, but both mornings it was full with people waiting to get in (there is a bench on the side street for the queue). We walked a little further to the bookshop/cafe Mary Ryans and recommend it - for breakfast and the books - they have indoor and outdoor seating.

We enjoyed our stay at Waves, it was comfortable, convenient and quiet (even on a Friday night).

I recently visited Waves Byron Bay, unfortunately only a short stay stay but was well worth the drive from Brisbane. I have stayed with Waves before, not for a while may I add, but the moment I always arrive I am instantly at ease when hit the beachy reception. Just missing out on the complimentary wine session, we headed straight to our room, immaculate room and bathroom and even more modern furniture than last time.
We did have a room facing the road which was originally a worry, however we slept with the door open for the summer breeze and was not woken once – quite remarkable that even in the heart of Byron Bay you still manage to have the peace and quiet that you want on a holiday.
Next morning headed out for my morning walk – had to stop by the nespresso coffee machine and freshly baked muffins that were offered by the Hotel as complimentary for all guests – a very nice touch.
Overall, loved the stay, the staff, the service offerings and of course you can’t beat that beachfront location. Hopefully stay a little longer next time! Thanks Waves!

We recently visited Byron and found Waves, they didn't have much left for the weekend so we ended up taking the Penthouse for 2 nights, a little more than what I was wanting to spend......but at least the price suited the room. We had been down the strip to other Hotels, just to be quoted absolutely unreasonable prices for studio rooms.
So Thank you Waves for the splendid Penthouse. Clean, Up to Date, Surround Sound, Big as Balconey.
Thanks for not being Stuck Up.
We may now come back to Byron

Waves at Byron bay is a nice stopping place for a visit to Byron Bay. It is very close to the beach and lots of restaurants. Our room couldn't actually see the sea but the penthouses on the top floor may be able to. The room was well equipped, spacious and comfortable if rather corporate bland. The bathroom was exceptional with very good separate shower and bath. The bed was a good size 6ft wide but a little soft for our tastes. Reception was friendly and efficient and muffins and coffee are available for the complimentary breakfast. Good value. Would definitely stay again.
