“Better places on Pacific Hwy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

We stopped at the Byron resourt and Spa - which was a terrific, if slightly expensive hotel. However, Byron Bay, with the notable exception of the Light house and beaches, is not a location we would return to, even though it is highly recommended in all tour company guides as a must visit location. The resort has been taken over by “Teenage” tourists (in the 1970s, they would probably have been called “Hippies” – but, that would be far too high an accolade!).

“Take lots of water”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

We did the 4km walk up to the lighthouse in a few hours and bar the heat it was a very easy walk. Flip-flops are absolutely fine to wear as apart from a few parts in the forest, it's a paved walkway. It's well sign-posted and there are a few 'did you know' facts along the way. The most Easterly point of Australia has a plaque, where you can take pictures and there's even a pole you can attach your camera to so you can take self-timer photos. All along the way (if you're in the right season) you can see whales, dolphins and turtles. The highlights are the viewing platforms around the lighthouse which have incredible views on every side. If it is hot make sure you take plenty of water as we know a few people that have fainted there.

“Amazing view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

The view from the lighthouse is incredible , one of the best in the world I believe. It sums up everything there is to love about living on the coast in Australia. Beautiful water, amazing beaches, incredible views, heaps of things to do. If you go to Byron Bay, it is a must see.

“stunning outlook”

A great place to walk to and enjoy the views. It is an unspoilt natural beauty. We saw some fishermen out on the rocks but how wild it is out there!
