4 couples who dine out together very regularly , (and all over the world)had a great night at this friendly excellent restaurant , our table was plagued by Christmas beetles who were a bit too intrusive! The staff moved us to the private dining room , we had a marvellous time , great service friendly but slow( there were extenuating circumstances ) The food was good , very interesting and full of flavour. We had a lot of fun, ate well , had amusing service and probbly drank too much

Harvest is actually not in Byron Bay but in a small village Newrybar which is about a 15 minute drive out of Byron. We were staying close by and had it recommended to us. We stopped in for breakfast- the choice was great with some unusual options, I chose the museli with fresh fruit and my boyfriend chose the moroccan eggs. The food was delicious and services good. The cafe was busy with a lively atmosphere and we enjoyed a table on the verandah. As an added bonus we popped into the deli and bakery and were not disappointed with an amazing 5 grain sour dough bread and bangalow ham we picked up for a DIY lunch. Definately worth a visit if you are in the area but I think the breakfast menu looked the best.

Very simply; you must visit! Called in on a Tuesday a few weeks ago when on holidays with my wife & daughter; along with bro & sis in-law. Long time since I've seen a rstaurant this busy outside of school hloidays on a Tuesday; that said something right from the start. Food selection was exeleent; and wine list comprehensive - and affordable. Newrybar is 50 metres off the main road & well worth the short diversion & stop. They also have a great deli next door. I'll be back! J;{-

I visited Harvest Cafe with a group of girlfriends and was impressed with the beautiful ambience of the residence that houses the very busy cafe. We had a lovely table on the shady verandah. The waitress who looked after our table was attentive, helpful and intutitive. Water was promptly refilled, wine glasses charged, special menu items were explained in common sense detail. I ordered the Salmon with smashed potatoes and was disappointed to discover the middle section was undercooked, (more the consisentency of smoked salmon). The vegetable accompanientments and jus were non-descript. 5 out of 5 for location, 5 out of 5 for ambience, 5 out of 5 for service, 3 out of 5 for food.

This restaurant needs some fine tuning and finesse. Firstly, it was one hour before we were served our meal. I ordered a whole NZ flounder that had been overly salted on the skin side to ensure crispness, but this method doesn't work on flat fish as there was no escaping the excessive salt in every bite. The fish was accompanied by two very small bowls - one containing cooked supermarket frozen fries, the other a few leaves of salad greens and a wedge of tomato. The fries and salad arrived several minutes before the fish. I had to eat most of the fries first as they were getting cold and limp. This is unacceptable. The desserts were nice enough, but a trio of chocolate morsels, including ice cream, came on a plate with only a spoon, making it difficult to eat. In other such restaurants a fork is included. The paper serviettes that were removed with our main meal were not replaced for our dessert course - another let down. There aren't any true desserts listed on the printed menu, the wait person tells you the desserts of the day, the same as we were read out the main meal specials. There are no prices stated, making it a lucky dip when you get the bill. This is unfair to patrons who must consider their outlay for a meal and too embarrassed to ask the price of an item. All up we found the meals and sevice rather pedestrian, which was disappointing. We have since spoken to others who have dined there, and all agree you must be prepared for a long wait to be served your meal. Potential lost for a return visit.
