Dined here with the family this week, for the 2nd time. The first time was a few years ago. The setting remains fantastic, an old house with huge verandahs in a tiny village 15 minutes drive from Byron Bay. The food and atmosphere were fantastic, but the service was a little "relaxed" and we were forgotten a number of times despite being the first table seated for the dinner service. I think its just the Byron Bay attitude to service!

The duck and tuna were big hits as were all the desert options.

The food and service were casual and a bit rustic. We had breakfast and the food was very good, with great coffee as well. They have their own bakery, with a range of natural breads and delicious pastries. Well worth the trip.

Dropped in for breakfast on our way through as had been recommended by a friend. Lived up to its recommendation. It's a lovely light bright restaurant/cafe, attractively decorated good space. Lots to choose from on the menu and the food was delicious. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, in a totally natural way. Gave us lots of advice on other restaurants in the area. Would have liked to have gone back for lunch of dinner one day. Definitely worth a visit.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!!!!
Booked a table for 5 people on Friday for a special Sunday lunch with our Mum who was up from Melbourne. Called again before leaving the Gold Coast just to confirm the booking (as it is a 1.5 hr drive), and was told they had no record of any booking, but they said they could still fit us in and would ensure that a table was reserved for us.
Upon our arrival, they claimed they had no record of any booking (neither the original or the subsequent one). What took the cake was that they claimed we never made a reservation. A simple apology would have sufficed to placate us, but not even this basic courtesy was extended to us.
It's a pity that some businesses let their popularity go to their head and forget that SERVICE is what got them there. After this experience, I will actively discourage all my friends and colleagues from ever booking at this place.
VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Had a wonderful three course meal here with my daughter and son in law. Our waitress was cheerful, polite, very knowledgeable about the menu and food in general without being intrusive of our time and the restaurant itself is just lovely. If in Byron Bay it's worth driving to Newrybar for the scenery and the Harvest Cafe :-)
