“Yummy”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Went because of trip advisor and were not disappointed. Primitive surroundings but a great evening with delicious food. The escargot were good, but at the next table they had the great idea of ordering the mussels as a couple and sharing it as an appetiser. The filet with red wine sauce was cooked perfectly. The highlight, though, was dessert. Do not miss the creme brûlée under any circumstances! The cost was very reasonable because they served a litre of red house wine that was quite fine but inexpensive.

“Authentic affordable indulgence at The Petit Snail - a local's review”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Whether you live in the area or are visiting, a reservation at The Petit Snail should be on your agenda. The effervescent hosts, Igor and Chauby, are passionate about providing traditional French food prepared with integrity from locally sourced ingredients. The wine list complements the mouthwatering menu - you will not be disappointed! For winter dining, book an inside table.

“champs elysees in the back allee”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

We went there with several friends. The food was ok but I thought it was totally overpriced.
The whole business is built on french clichees and pretends. There is not enough space outside and the owners had blocked valuable car space with their own cars. Won't go there again!

I am very sorry for your disappointment, especially for the parking facility. It is true that there are only 13 parking spot in front of the restaurant - within 20 metres of the main entrance - and it is also true that my wife and I used one of them for our vehicle. Your 4 star rating for the food seem to indicate that the food met your expectation. I wonder why it took you seven months to write a review on trip advisor...

“French Finesse”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

We have eaten many times in the heart of Paris and it would be hard to beat the level of quality food and hospitality that we received at le Petit Snail tonight. To find this restaurant in Byron Bay, walk to Woolwoths, cross the road, find the tattoo shop on the corner and walk east 50 meters. The escargots were deliciously authentic, the boeuf roquefort was aged for 8 weeks and cooked superbly to our specifications and the twice cooked duck legs with figs melted in the mouth. We finished with a short black and some home made Belgian truffles prepared with a little rum and lots of love. We could have finished with the superb crepe Suzette we saw being served at other tables but did not have room for them. We heard the moans of delight from those who chose to have them. Maybe something to look forward to next time. Overall, this restaurant is faultless. The level of service is outstanding and the food is better than anything on offer in larger cities of Australia. Don't miss this fine dining experience.

“Best French restaurant in Oz”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

I love French food and wine.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of experiencing fine French food at home and abroad.

I must say this one enclave in Byron Bay delivers the best French fare I have ever tasted.

Do yourself a favor, if you are ever in BB, make a booking (essential) with Chauby and she will take care of the rest.

Enjoy!
