We had never heard of Belongil Beach until we saw it on a local map and decided to try it as we were staying at the van park nearby. Definitely much quieter than main beach and much easier to get a park. The parking is free but the carpark itself is an absolute disgrace and when we drove in our first impressions weren't great. However the beach itself was very nice and we spent a couple of very relaxing hours here swimming and enjoying the surroundings and the views of the lighthouse. Not recommend for children as it isn't patrolled and we got dumped a couple of times so can be quite rough - for experienced swimmers only.
