My wife and I stayed for 4 days in May - first time in Byron for ages. We were pleased to be out of the rat race downtown and found Spirit Of Bali to be relaxed, casual yet classy...and only a short walk from the shops/restaurants and the beach. The owner couldn't have been more helpful: she even booked the shuttle to and from the airport for us, which is the only way to do it - it drops you right at the door! Didn't need a hire car at all, which made it even more of a holiday.
We lit the fire at night, slept in an ornate 4 poster (with a mozzie net - which we didn't need), took walks on the beach and didn't wear shoes. It was all very low key - and just they way we like it.

This was our third stay and we just loved it! This time we rented the whole house with our family and we even brought our dog with us. It was a great holiday. The new manager is lovely, easy to deal with, and has great attention to detail. Both the house and service is impeccable, from arriving at 6pm to find the potbelly fire already burning for us in the living room, and complimentary champagne in the fridge, to the beautiful toiletries. It’s reasonably priced considering it is an original and very spacious house located right in Byron that sleeps up to ten people. We were eight plus teddy our dog and it was perfect. The gardens are beautiful plus there’s wifi which comes in handy and of course the BBQ outside for our fresh caught fish. There’s a great café on the next block and the manager express posted my slippers back to me when I forgot them. We did not have any mosquitos. Yes we will be back again. Thank you!!

Merci! A bientôt!

Room Tip: Rent the whole house. Then you can choose any!

Off we went on a getaway trip to Byron. We booked online and arrived at the guesthouse to be greeted by our host Jessica, the new manager or owner, she was gorgeous and very friendly. Our room was stylishly fitted out with an ornate netted double bed and a single bed, crisp ironed white linen, table and chairs, a wardrobe with some new magazines, a bunch of pink roses, and a complimentary bottle of wine. Our bathroom had an old style clawfoot bathtub and french doors that opened onto a private rock garden.. We washed the city away in rainwater, ordered in-house massages and a yoga session, walked into town to pick up some shopping and then spent the evening by the fireplace playing scrabble.. The next morning we had breakfast at the cafe on the next block towards the beach, a very trendy converted milk bar called 'The Top Shop' where locals bring blankets to sprawl out in the sun on the lawn with their morning coffees.  It was perrrfect. We loved our stay at Byron Bay Guest House and we will be back soon!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the 'Bagus Room'

We picked this place off the internet and it looked good in the photos. FOr this price - we thought we would live like kings for a few days in lovely Byron Bay. We arrived to find that the owner was rude, impatient and more concerned about getting to a social gathering than showing us our room and the facilities. The quick tour around ended with "happy little vegemites?" and off she ran.
Breakfast was a joke - help yourself to the half opened large packets of cornflakes etc in the cupboard! Not even in tupperware containers. It looked like a B&B, we paid B&B prices, but it definately felt like a good backpackers in terms of services and management. The room was very nice but didn't have mosquito screen which isn't good in a house surrounded by shady trees were mossies love to hang out. What's the point of a Balinese theme if your can't relax and enjoy the breeze without swating a mosi?!
WATCH out for the sneaky surcharge on credit cards - which is on the website as we found out later.
At the end of the day, for the same money, i'm sure you could find a better place to stay with better services and management.
If the owner started to care more about the guests, provided the services expected of a place with this price tag, and took lessons in professional hospitality, i'm sure this place would be could be a good B&B. A bit of a shame really...

Fantastic house with a Balinese feel. Our room has a 4 poster Bali timber bed with romantic netting. Very friendly host and other guests also very nice. The house has a great verandah with daybed and lovely
breeze which is a great place to read a book. There is a great corner shop called The Top Shop which does the best coffee and food great prices and a small walk from the house. Also only a couple of blocks to Clarkes beach. Very good location to cinemas and town. We will be back to this lovely guest house and bring some friends and will book the whole house. Just love Byron and it's vibe!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights one weekend. We greatly wished we had seen these reviews before we had booked, we were extremely disappointed. When we arrived the toilet had a foul smell coming from it; turns out it hadn’t been cleaned from previous guests, it was disgusting. There were cobwebs in the corner and ants going up the wall. The so-called “bathroom” was absolutely ridiculous. It was not a ‘marble or glass ensuite’ it was actually just a dirty toilet and a shower placed IN the corner of the room on the wooden floor! The only thing which was separating the room from the toilet and shower was a pathetic curtain! It was revolting sleeping about 2.5 meters away from a toilet. This was not romantic at all! There were no fly screens on windows either. There was a small tv which we could hardly even watch as the bed was blocking it.. We were disgusted that we were paying $200AUD for each night; there are so many other nicer places to stay in Byron, which are even cheaper. It’s a joke that they charged this much. $50 a night would have been more appropriate. ALSO the “5 star luxury room” shown on the wot if website is actually the owners room! The photos shown are misleading, we stayed in the ketut room which was filled overfilled with large furniture. We were also told by the people who ran the place that we were not allowed to use the kitchen.. Please do not waste your money staying here you will be greatly disappointed.

The house is on the corner of a busy street. There is no AC so the windows need to be open and it is quite loud. Sleeping was difficult with all the noise.
The room was musty and small as all the rooms seemed to be. The room we saw promoted and requested is actually the owners apartment (the upstairs of the house).
There is was no breakfast provided despite advertisement that breakfast is included.
When we arrived the inn keeper charged us more per night than she had orginally quoted.
Property advertisement is not accurate.
On the plus side it is not a far walk to the beach.
There are much more comfortable and better value accomodations to be had in the area.
We stayed at the Cape Beach House one night which is much closer to the beach, serves a great breakfast, cheaper rates, simple but comfortable room.
