We were looking for another restaurant and, being unable to locate the one we wanted, ended up here. The place is well presented and we were quickly seated at an outdoor table.
There are some positives to our experience, unfortunately they are not the important ones. The place was clean and the staff were helpful and attentive. They sold a passable Sauvignon Blanc.
It was when it came to the food that things started to go wrong. The size of the portions was very generous but what was served had little to do with oriental cuisine as we know it. We regularly eat Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese and Thai, hence believe we have a good idea of what to expect and what particular dishes taste like. The Butter Chicken we ordered consisted of shredded chicken in a bland sauce. The Beef/ vegetable Massaman was in a particularly heavy peanut sauce. The taste of individual spices was absent. The popadoms were particularly greasy and soft. The rice was sticky and not the nice fluffy pilau rice we were hoping for. Anybody with minimum kitchen experience, could have thrown these dishes together.
As we were hungry, we ate some of it but left more than we ate. The bill wasn't excessive - but we would've preferred to pay more and get good food.
