I only ate at the restaurant and I found it completely overpriced. The food was good but not worth the price. I didn't stay there so can't comment on the accommodation. I went with friends who live in the area who normally go elsewhere. We went there because was the only place open on new years day

Lovely property in the southern highlands, spacious suite with peaceful view on a charming pond and grove. Very friendly and caring staff. On the down side, we had leaking taps and a noisy extractor in the bathroom. And the bistro menu and breakfast buffet might look a bit too simple to many. But tha was good enough for us and the kids :-) An excellent stay for a couple of nights to scout the region.

We stopped here yesterday for lunch. The property looked nice and staff were friendly enough. It had a bit of an English Pub feel to it. However the type that serves overpriced stodgy food English Pub. with the extremely overcooked vegetables (brocolli and zuccini mix, and a mush and crusty potato bake) and the type of salad bar that looks as inviting as a can of beetroots gone dry can...... The cooked mains were fair enough, but priced to include the self serve "Salad and Vegetable Bar" whether you wanted it or not? (didn't observe anyone who did)
Could be a fabulous place, staff were nice and friendly.... Management obviously not keeping an eye on the ball.....

Room Tip: We didn't stay. However did note this place is beside the main road. If you do stay ask for roo...

We stayed at the Briars for a night as we had a family Christmas get together on the Saturday afternoon. The rooms are great for families, they are much bigger than standard hotel rooms, and there is plenty of room for two adults and two kids. The best thing about the rooms is that they open out on to the gardens, so you can open your doors and let the kids run around which adds to the feeling that their is a lot of space.

We paid $260 for the night which is expensive for the area, but good value when you consider the standard of accommodation. The breakfast (included in the room rate) was very comprehensive and there were plenty of hot & cold options.

The staff are so friendly, they couldn't do enough to help us during our whole stay.

Went to a wedding at this property. Lovely grounds and F&B was good. Charging 5 star city prices in the country but the accommodation is a good 3.5 star rating. Air Con in rooms is old style with thermostat on the wall and ineffective and needs to be upgraded to reverse cycle as it was a hot night. TV reception was a little poor and had some issues that need looking into. Bathroom lighting and lighting in general was a little dim and it was a struggle to apply makeup etc. Rooms are nice and big with a lounge area, dressing room and functional bathroom. All in all a good stay albeit a little hot at night in room.

A day spent driving through the rain and cold finished at the Briars in Bowral. This is an older place but its still right up to date. The rooms are lovely, although I do worry about the two steps from the bed area to the lounge area tripping up people in the night...... A lovely comfy bed.

The Briars pub serves a fabulous if pricy meal and the old English Pub atmosphere is a delight, particularly during the very wintery Spring weather we had.

We stayed here a few years ago for my brother in laws wedding and had a great time.
This time we just stopped for lunch. The service was slow. Food horribly overpriced $28 for a tiny stuffed chicken breast with cup of ?rice? and self served over cooked veges. Hubby's beef was overcooked, the potatoes undercooked and pumpkin was mush. Daughter had a frozen hamburger patty. Son's fish and chips were only nice part of the meal. $80 without drinks. $28 for 2 midis of beer and 2 pink lemonades is worse than Sydney CBD bar prices.
Spoke to my sister in law later in the day and found out they'd outsourced the catering for the wedding. That explains everything
