“Simply superb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

We both had the 3 course meal and enjoyed absolutely every element. We could watch the kitchen staff prepare and we were Rey impressed.

For one of the best meals we have had, simply great value.

The only one detracting was the slow service and the service staff wearing jeans. The jeans made it feel like a hamburger joint instead of a fine dining experience.

We will definitely be back!

“Very Impressive.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

I decided to book a last minute night away and had heard so much about Biota. We had a few hiccups with the booking but Georgia was really, really helpful and we got it all sorted. We arrived and checked in, nice big smiles greeted us. The rooms are nice, compact and bijou would be the description, for a quick overnighter they are perfect.
On to dinner, we had the 7 course degustation, with matching wines, a splurge but well worth it. The dinner was very creative and skillful. The highlight being the Kingfish, such flavour, the egg dish with truffles and bottarga and the hens wing, all beautifully executed and plated. The wines were beautifully presented with a quick description for our excellent waiter, the nice thing they did here was to describe the wine, pour the glass and then leave the bottle on the table so you were free to top up, which we did, several times! The focus is on regional wines and the ones serves were really excellent, the 924 centennial vineyards Riesling being the favourite.
All in all very enjoyable, not cheap but I feel a must visit.

“wonderful meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Our party of eight went to Biota Dining last Sunday night. We all chose the 3 course menu (there was a choice of 3, 5 or 7 courses) and found the quality and quantity of the food to be very good. The service and attention was very professional by the waitress and the kitchen staff and the meals all came to the table at the same time. We all chose different dishes, the menu listed a number of fish, meat, vegetarian and desserts and we were told by the waitress when ordering that we could order whatever we wished whether it be 3 savoury dishes or 3 desserts, the choice was ours. The decor and fittings of the restaurant was very modern and pleasing. After our meal we moved to the open fire in the next room and as it was a cold night it was very pleasant. We all enjoyed Irish coffees in this room which topped off a great night.

“Surprising experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

We were shopping in a boutique in Bowral when my sister in law asked where was a nice place for dinner, we were told to go find Biota Dining. So pleased we did. A very relaxed & lovely surroundings with greenery, a pond & ducks out the front. There is a restaurant with degustation meals as well as a Lounge & Bar with smaller cheaper meals, which is what we chose to sit down to. The atmosphere was so quiet & calming, they should open a day spa on the premises. There are also rooms (9) on site as well. If ever I'm in Bowral again I would love to visit this eatery again. Food A1!

“Not what we expected”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Our visit to this restaurant was not what we expected from the Regional Restaurant of the Year.

Our first disappointment was the menu on two counts - firstly the menu was tatty and grubby. Secondly, we were given a choice of a 7 course or a 5 course or a 3 course menu with no real indication of what was on offer. For example one item read "charred beetroot - vegetable peeling - yoghurt - oxalis". All the other item has 4 word descriptions. So we asked the waitress for her help. She didn't know which veggie had been peeled and advised that oxalis was a kind of weed. She advised that the meal sizes were somewhere between entrée and main size, but I've never had an entrée so small before. I was going to have the smoked kingfish (which was very good), but chose the beef after she told me it was the best on the menu. What a mistake, there was something served with the beef that was chewy and barely edible. The pork belly was excellent.

The service certainly lets the place down. Our first course arrived immediately after the bread rolls. Then we waited almost an hour for the second course.

Desert was a nightmare. We chose the two sorbet dishes. The one with rose petals raved about in the Good Food Guide was passable, but the one in pumpkin was awful.

We couldn't wait to leave.

Why didn't we eat at the Links House Hotel?
