“Loved this little cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

We had lunch here and it was excellent. We had the beef pie and veggies. Excellent value and fresh ingredients. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The cafe atmosphere is very interesting and warm as it was a cold day outside. Will be going back again soon.

“Good quality food (and portion sizes!) in a charming setting.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

This busy and really popular Bowral cafe is great. The cute cafe has a really authentic feel and the 'vibe' is friendly.
I've been there on several occassions and I am always thrilled with my meal. Service is sometimes a little slow on weekends but hang in there...its worth it!
Great quality food and large portion sizes. I haven't finished a meal yet - ok, I'm not a huge eater but my companions haven't finished their meals either! Wonderful country style meals and the yummy indian curries are my favourites, plus I have to mention the hot chocolate served in a cup the size of a soup bowl (almost!) and the yummy cakes and desserts.
Enjoy!

“Not as good as it was :(”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

We are regular visitors to Bowral & have always enjoyed going to Elephant Boy for our brunch/lunch or just coffee and cake. While the atmosphere & interior is still as great as ever, the quality, presentation and certainly the size of the meals have declined over the past 12 months. Prices too have risen substantially over this time. What was a hearty breakfast (on a cold Bowral winters day) of toast, egg, sausage & beans is now half the size. Surprising for the price.
Time to start looking for alternatives.

“Where the coffee comes in a bowl!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Went here for breakfast..... Can only describe this as a wonderful dining experience!

Coffee had that necessary punch in the face to wake up effect - which in my books, is always a positive.

The cafe itself has a lot of character, charm, and a lot of things that make you smile. We loved the quirky surroundings, and felt like we were about to embark on a Rudyard Kipling adventure!

Coffee comes in three sizes, cup, French bowl, and mug.

Meals ordered were the elephant boy cracker and eggs benedict.
The elephant boy cracker was good, except the eggs weren't runny. Meal consisted of eggs, bacon toast, mushrooms and potato cake, with baked beans ordered as an extra. It should be noted that everything is free range, organic, and locally sourced. The baked beans, you can certainly tell we're not a tinned job. They were lovely. The bacon was beautiful, and not as salty as normal bacon.

The eggs benedict came with English muffins, wilted spinach and PROPER ham off the bone, leg ham. The hollandaise sauce was nice, though perhaps a little too much lemon used.

All in all a fabulous dining experience, and would definitely come again.

“Beautiful one day, expensive the next!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic coffee, great ambiance, very friendly service. Bowral is, as Bowral does- expensive! Bowral seems to be able, through its natural beauty, charm and history charge a lot $s. Bring your wallet and ENJOY!
