Well worth the visit. Maybe the initial film is a few minutes too long but there's plenty of history to be seen here. Good selection of books and there is a lot of information in the displays about Berrima, Volunteers were friendly and helpful and obviously knew their stuff.

The experience starts with a 15 minute film about the area and the history of the courthouse and gaol as well as some of the local cottages. This was informative , easy to watch and gave us facts about some of the cottages we had worked past in the town. The timeline was an interesting read but I thought the room listing the ship occupants of the first fleet wasn't so relevant. The Treason and murder show was a summary of a real court case held in the court. I thought it started well with spot lights on 'people' as their roles were explained . But then the lights became a variety of coloured lights with no relevance to the events being explained. I think this detracted from the reason for the display play ie to understand the workings of he out then. I think the coloured lights could be removed . Bearing in mind funds raised through the ticket sales go towards maintaining this important piece of history it is worth the visit.

Even though the budget was obviously not sky high, I felt this was a very worthwhile attraction for someone interested in Australian history. The volunteer out the front was very friendly and the gift shop had lots of options for further research. The opening video was quite long but very well done .

We visited the courthouse as a start point to our brief visit to Berrima. The experience commences with a short introductory film that provides a very good historical background and reference point for the rest of the township. You then move through the courthouse building with static displays that are interesting and relevant. You can spend a lot of time reading the material presented. Next you move into the court itself to witness the end of the trial of some past citizens. It is all very well done and well worth the admission fee. The rest of the town is just fantastic as well. it is well preserved and the history just leaps out. A great experience.

Berrima is a delightful historic village with beautiful cottages, gardens and public buildings. However, we were disappointed by the courthouse. Friendly staff and interesting photos. But I would alter the audiovisual in the courtroom, especially the random lighting effects that detracted from the story. It was expensive for the experience received.
