The Gunyah has certainly grown up
Service is good friendly Aussie Pub Service.
Meals are good size and the seafood is fresh.
Occasional surprise special like Chilli Mud Crab keeps the Mrs happy.
Steaks are big and cooked just right.
We keep going back so must be good.

Wife had the salmon a bit dear for a pub. I had the Noodle paella with seafood. Was really great and for $19 for a main.

We had lunch here with two other couples on a Saturday and the meal was excellent.

The specials board had Pork Belly etc. but five of us all chose the grilled red snapper with chips and salad while another had the garlic prawns in a creamy sauce with salad – no dish was over $24 and with the “shop-a-dockets” one meal was half-price. We couldn’t have enjoyed our meals as all of the plates were picked clean.

The desserts on the board were equally as nice – one had the lava cake, another had the passionfruit slice and the rest of us had the Kahlua chocolate Brule (to die for!) – all served with some cast red toffee and ice-cream or cream. If you order the cappuccinos with the dessert, we were told it works out cheaper so, for two coffees and two Brule ($8 each) all up it was $20 so truly excellent value and highly recommended.

The service was courteous and very efficient – on arrival, you are greeted at the door with a warm smile and shown to your table. After perusing the extensive menu, to order it is a very short distance to the counter where the table number is quoted then, a short time later, all the meals are brought to your table with a friendly smile. Drinks are at pub prices but quite reasonable with an excellent wine list on offer.

We’ll definitely go back it’s that good – the views over the lake and the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club, of course, are excellent and it is a very easy place to pass an afternoon away.
