the property was built in early 1900's as a Methodist Girls Boarding School. Over the years it has been used as flats and a boarding house but the present owners have faithfully restored it to its former character. Much of the furniture was sourced in Tasmainia and is of the appropriate period. We stayed in the former head mistresses room which was large, comfortable, on the ground floor and very peaceful. Delightful balconies provide a place to sit in the evening. The evening meal was superb and at breakfast we taught the chef how good crumpets are with salt on them!

Room Tip: There is no lift so if stairs are a problem book a downstairs room

How good is it to experience 5 star, yet feel right at home. The friendly staff and comfortable surrounds of this heritage building make a perfect combination to enjoy beautiful Ballina. Be surprised by a pillow menu that allows you to sleep well, and enjoy simply stunning food served in unhurried surrounds. Probably not suitable for young children.

Room Tip: Ask about the spa room for an even more enjoyable stay.

I routinely stay here on business trips to the area. Once again, the stay was ideal. The attic room was quirky but comfortable (but don't use it if you don't like stairs), with the room clean and well furnished.

The staff were friendly and very helpful and check in/out was effortless

The room service meal (fish/chips), was a misnomer, as it was the best piece of ocean trout I've ever had.

I will happily stay again, and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here just the one night, but would have loved to stay longer. Good location, close enough to walk to town and down to the river. Friendly staff, efficient service, beautifully restored building and much better than your average hotel or motel. Our bed and breakfast was good value, and the breakfast itself was very good.

We had dinner at the Manor's restaurant, in the beautiful dining room. Lovely setting, perfect steak, and a good range of wines by the glass. It was a little on the expensive side but worth it.

Definitely on the return to list.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3, at the back with its own outdoor area overlooking the courtyard. My only compla...

This was a real gem.
The premises are beautiful and full of history. My room on the first floor was very well appointed in period style, and opened onto a small balcony area, overlooking a fountain and small courtyard garden.
The hotel was within easy walking distance to Ballina shops, and also an easy stroll to the river.
Reception staff were very friendly and offered helpful suggestions about the local area.
I had dinner at the restaurant, and it offered a range of innovative meals - absolutely delicious.
I enjoyed breakfast in the courtyard.
Overall, this was such a delightful experience - I do hope I can stay a little longer next time

Wow, what a great experience here. Arrived slightly later than expected to check in and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The period styled room was an instant hit with my partner. A great bonus of the room was being able to step outside to enjoy the sunset from the verandah. Location is great as is close to a main street for shopping, or for a short drive to one of the local beaches.

Room Tip: Stayed in Heritage room 6 and was a large room with door to verandah, great bed and awesome shower w...

Wonderful stay at the Manor last weekend. Everything about the room was perfect and dinner in front of the open fire on a wet and cold night was very enjoyable. The restoration of the building is amazing! Service was very warm and friendly and we felt very welcome.

Room Tip: The Manor is on a very quiet street so all the rooms would be good.
