Almare Tourist Motel
Ranked #17 of 20 Hotels in Ballina
Reviewed July 28, 2014

My family including our 10 year old son stayed here in July for three nights. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us a quick overview of where everything was in Ballina when we checked in. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast was also a good bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

We stopped in Ballina on our travels to be met with a very friendly host, who escorted us personally to our room, and our room was so very comfortable. The bed was lovely and even though this motel is older, it has a lovely ambience, as the hosts are so hospitable and friendly. The added extra of a free breakfast at a budget motel was awesome. We only stayed one night, but it was very memorable.

Room Tip: all budget rooms are good, but if you want a bit of extra space.. get the bigger room.

Excellent value would stay again for sure. What more would you want. Friendly helpful service. Free breaky. A pool. Clean rooms. Tea and coffee with fresh milk. Club just a short walk away. Anyone winging about this place should be staying 5 star. tight fisted and just need to moan. I have stayed in hundreds of motels travelling the country for tennis and it is hard to get value like this.

Look, this place is ok. The manager is super nice and helpful. The beds are very tired; squishy, springy, and dippy! The ensuite is pretty ancient! Centre of town is a bit of a hike! Probably a bit pricey for what you get, but hey; everyone has to make a dollar! That said we had a great night sleep after a good feed at the pub that was recommended by the manager, and a light breakfast the next morning with fresh milk was included! I wouldn't stay here long term, but if your passing through like us it's good enough!

I have never stayed any where that was this dirty. The pillow smelled like sweat when I arrived. They would benefit from washing their linen and a refurbishments. I have stayed at budget places that were cleamer and/or newer for the same price or less. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Good $ value for an overnight stay. Property dated and in need of some updating, small compact room; small bathroom. A little noisy. "Tight" carpark but accessible. Friendly and helpful reception staff.

Room Tip: request room at rear of property

at the end of the long long drive from Sydney! Very reasonable --- even free breakfast was provided when we stayed there! A very cheerful welcome on a Saturday afternoon. A roomy and bright unit - nice cream- painted brick walls and very soundproof ---- with very comfortable beds and the best shower!!! When we asked Jill for a recommendation for somewhere good to eat, she pointed us down the road to the Ballina RSL/Bowling Club - so great not to get in the car again and a short walk which we really needed. As I'm a retiree I've eaten my share of 'Roasts of the Day' ---- but never have I had such a beautiful roast pork dinner - I wanted to adopt the chef!!!! A good sleep and a lovely continental breakfast sent us happily on our way to Queensland. We'll certainly be back. Many thanks to a delightful couple who run a great motel.
