I personally had my wedding here 6 years ago. The owners still remember me and are delightful. They are good people and made our wedding feel like the best wedding ever. I think that they did a fantastic job and they really care about their customers. How many other businesses can you say would personally greet you and remember you after all that time after a one time event. I would go back here in a heartbeat. The food was the best food ever and our guests still talk about it years later and the owners are just as lovely as I remember them. I would stay here anytime I would eat food here anytime and I would highly recommend them any day of the week. Can’t wait to go back.

While the room itself (10) was spacious enough and clean, there was a definite problem at night.IF you are like me and need a dark room to sleep in, this is not the room for you.The drapes are far too light and the outside drive way lighting illuminates the room until the early hours of the morning.Add to that, on a warm summer night you have two choices, neither were satisfactory….one…take the key out of the door slot so that the bathroom light goes out,( there’s no light switch in the bathroom), even with the sliding door between the bedroom and bathroom closed, it still created too much light in the bedroom.BUT turning off the light also turns off the air con… so, on a hot night…dark room but no air con, or air con and a room too bright to sleep in…

Having said all this…the meal delivered to my room ( filet steak, potatoes and steamed veg) was delicious and very well cooked. The lady behind the bar, sorry didn’t get her name was friendly chatty and helpful.

The hotel is easy to find and the location well out of the town centre.

Room tip: As above avoid room 10 if you need a good night sleep.

Afternoon Robyn. I do wish you had rung reception regarding your trouble with the lights. All our bathrooms have a light switch just inside the door so you do not have a situation of having to have the light on all night. This would have solved all your problems. I urge guests to report things when they occur so the situation can be fixed, I can assure you I do not know of an accommodation owner who wants to have an unhappy guest. Also all our rooms have blockout curtains and our walkway lights are programmed to turn off at 10 pm which would also help the situation.

We have stayed here many times and dined at the restaurant. The food is delicious and there is no complaints. Our French waiter tonight needs a pay rise . The girl at check in today and tonight needs a career change , RUDE little person.
Not ever coming back because of her .
To the owners of this business, feel free to reach out

Room tip: The rooms are dated and old , but otherwise clean .

Afternoon Bec. It certainly saddens me to get feedback such as yours. We try very hard to make all our guests stays an enjoyable one and to think our staff cannot treat them with the respect they deserve is very disheartening. I called a meeting for all Front of House staff to discuss your experience. I know it is not much consolation, but the person involved is no longer working in FOH as she finds the pressure too distressing which could explain her less than acceptable manner in how she treated you. Please accept my sincere apologies

For an overnight stop, this resort offers a convenient location just south of town, with quiet off-street parking & lovely gardens. Admin was also very helpful in organising our short-notice booking. However we will not be able to stay here again. It's because of the bed.
We stayed in an Executive Queen room with clean pleasant facilities. Mostly practical, except for the old aircon which we had to turn off, as its rumble was too noisy. However, it was the very-very-very soft bed - that was the problem.

'Marshmallow' was a good comparison. If you have any health concerns needing even minimal bed-support, especially spinal (myself) neck, hip or leg issues, this may be a problem. Even my husband, (who can sleep on almost anything), had an uncomfortable night sleep.
I saw a similar comment in a previous review - 'bed was too soft', but thought it may have been a 'one-off'. Not so, unless different units have different mattress-styles, which would be unusual?
Having stayed in many accommodation places over the years, we can say that this was the 'softest bed' we had ever tried to sleep on.
When we checked-out Admin was closed, so we could not mention our concerns. It is disappointing to include this in our review, but we thought to make other travellers aware.

Afternoon DiB798. Thank you for your feedback. I do wish you had left us a note, or called us to voice your concerns, as we don't actually know who you are and which room you are referring to and we did try all the mattresses in our Executive Queen rooms. Most people praise our beds so your report was concerning. It is so hard to please everyone but when we replace a mattress it is with a medium hotel grade mattress with medium depth topper which is recommended by the industry and all our Executive Queen rooms have new mattresses.

Amazing service from the young lady at reception and then she brought me my meal in great time . Could not rate her service high enough. She is a credit to the hotel and I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in town or near by. I will definitely be staying again.
