We purchased this “weekend getaway” deal from the Scoopon site and had no expectations set at all. What we really wanted was to do as little as possible and possibly perform a couple of outdoor activities (like 4wd, walking etc) if we felt like it.
When we arrived on Friday around 2pm we were greeted by Rikki, who was very nice to us. Rikki provided us with the cabin keys and explained a couple of things about the place.
The cabin was very nice (to be honest, it very much exceeded our expectations). The only one thing I'd change is the shower head. I know that water is purified on-premises and it is important to conserve it, but it was somehow challenging to have a shower. However, this is not a real show stopper...The site is located with an easy access to the beach, 4wding and numerous fishing spots. The place is also pet friendly. We do not have a dog, but it seemed that both dogs and their owners behaved themselves :-)
On the first day we had a 4wd trip and then relaxed for the rest of the evening. On the second day we took a longer 4wd trip (what a truly beautiful place) and then hired a bicycle for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, there were not many places where you can cycle, but with our level of fitness and willingness to take things easy it was sufficient enough for the rest of the day. In the evening we had a couple of drinks and relaxed on the patio of the cabin listening to the live band and watching the fire twirler.
On Sunday we cleaned up our cabin and left around 9am with an extremely positive feeling.

I was reading other reviews on the TripAdvisor before we left and after we arrived back home. Some of them are positive reviews, some of them felt like they were left by people whom are really hard to please...
The reality is... this is NOT a Hilton or any other 5 star hotels... But I have travelled a lot in Australia and can easily say it is by FAR the best place (park) where I’ve spent a weekend in the last 5 years.

All facilities are exceptional. The BBQ area is well maintained and clean, cabins not only well maintained but also equipped with all necessary gear e.g. fridge, tv, toaster, oven, stove, cutlery, kettle, I can go on and on and on, the list is very impressive.

I'm not sure what the real price for the cabin is, but if scoopon deal could be repeated for the price we originally purchased it I can see my partner and I staying at the Ballina village resort at least a couple of times a year.
Thank you Rikky and the rest of the management of Ballina Village resort for the amazing experience.

Room Tip: Bring money or your own food and alcohol. If you 4wd, check tides and know what your car is capabl...

Thank you so much for your comment 'But I have travelled a lot in Australia and can easily say it is by FAR the best place (park) where I’ve spent a weekend in the last 5 years" this makes my weary bones very glad indeed that someone appreciates all the hard work that my staff (who I think are stellar) put into our wonderful village.

All your notes are excellent and I have passed them on to the folk concerned. Thank you for your balanced opinion and I know that many future guests will indeed get great value from reading your informative write up.

With thanks, Rikki

Really enjoyed our stay here - large well maintained grounds, with abundant birdlife singing away. No traffic, great walks - loved the huge unspoilt beach & views from the rock wall sticking out into the ocean, saw dolphins !. The cafe food was good value, freshly cooked. Great entertainment with Mick (?) teh singer on the deck. We stayed in one of the Superior cabins - neat & clean with high quality linen & nice decor.

Well I am currently sitting in my cabin writing this review waiting for a repair man to fix the oven while my family are in Ballina at the waterpark celebrating our sons birthday!!! Sums up our holiday at Ballina Beach Village.
We arrived on Friday to find our Deluxe 2 bedroom cabin to find it to really be 1 bedroom with a small hallway that had 2 bunks on the wall. I had booked for 2 adults and 3 kids 17,16 and 14. The cabin maybe big enough for a couple with 2 small children but not grown kids. I wish they would have advised me to get 2 cabins....and I probably won't have come because the cost would have been ridiculous. I also booked a camp site for the kids to give them some space and thank god I did....but mind you the cabin cost $1200 for 7 days and camp site another $300.00 so extremely expensive for what it is....it is a very basic run down caravan park with a few flash Balinese flags out the front!!!!
The kids were excited because they advertised trapeze and circus activities on the first weekend.....all were cancelled. The kids were very disapointed and struggled to find things to amuse them as there is just nothing to do, even at their age we could not send them down to swim at an unpatrolled beach. They agreed to light the fire 1 night so they could at least toast some marshmellows but refused to light it again as apparently it was too hot???
The pool is the size of a residential pool, the playground is rundown and the beach is unpatrolled and very dangerous. Not suitable for people with young kids.
It is a 20minute drive to Ballina to go to the shops or a patrolled beach or to do anything really. Or you can catch a ferry that cost $4.40 each one way trip.
A lot of people staying seem to have scoupons and I hope they are getting better service than we are as full paying guests. We tried to have dinner the other night and we got their at 7.30pm only to be told we could only order from take away menu and were charge $2.00 to eat each meal at a table.
When we reported the oven didn't work as we were trying to cook dinner they did send someone to look at it and then try and tell us it is working.....it wasn't and I had to go back to kiosk to beg to borrow a fry pan to get dinner cooked.
It has been a terrible holiday.... a real waste of money next time I will book a pet friendly house much better value, more room and closer to beaches and activities.
Thanks though to the repair man who has gone to so much trouble to pull the whole oven out and replace it with 1 that works from another cabin....the 1 staff member that has been friendly and helpful.

We thank this guest for her comments, and we have written to her directly. Trip Advisor provides a wonderful open forum for complaints and replies which helps to give a balanced view. The Ballina Beach Village is 4.9 kms from a large shopping centre with Dan Murphys, SPA supermarket, chemist, newsagent, Tavern, Baker, Restaurants, Butcher etc. It is a further 4.8kms to the centre of town. We advise all guests even prior to booking that we are accessed by a car ferry - which is very convenient to use, as it runs all day and night and is priced at $4.40 per car.
With regards to the oven element not working, this was reported to us at 5.30pm on the Sunday night. Our on site manager ascertailed that it required a workshop solution. We offered the guest free dinners in our restaurant for her family or alternatively to cook her meal for her, however, she asked for and was given immediately a fry pan to continue roasting the chicken she had prepared. Her oven was swapped out the following morning at 9am. I note that the cook top was in working order.
As noted the guest had booked the cabin for herself and the camping site opposite for her children to stay in. The cabin was only booked for 2 people with a dog. We do not advertise the cabins as two bedrooms, but has having a master bedroom, and a bunk bed area. The descirption is very accurate, as are the photos of all cabins so that guets can be as well informed as possible prior to booking.
The provider of the flying trapeze is an independent business to ours. While it is unofortuntate that due to illness the flyng trapeze was cancelled, all the other entertainment that we are directly responsible for including a fabulous night of music on the Saturday night went ahead as advertised.
We are an eco resort and this is heavily emphasised in all our marketing. If guests are looking for a Disneyland experience this definetly isn't it.
While complaints like this are very disappointing to us it also highlights areas that we need to manage better, and gives us the opportunity to improve our message and our product delivery. Every complaint is viewed here as a way of giving our very valued guests a better experience. We thank our guests for her points and look forward to discussing them with her.

We used a Scoopon deal to Visit Ballina Beach Village resort & stayed Fri/Sat night. It was a good deal i.e. 2 nights with bottle of wine, seafood basket to share & 1 hot breakfast each on one day - $149 the lot - bargain! The Cabin was clean & comfortable. Being non-season it was quiet & relaxing. I think our cabin would be ideal for a family & we saw a few dogs staying - all behaved nicely.
Only constructive feedback is that it needed some basic maintenance i.e. door knob in bathroom was loose - could be a problem in the future if a child locked themself in. And the slow period could be an opportunity to work on mould build up in the shower. Still all ok for our short bargain stay. Staff were friendly & helpful. Thanks Ballina Beach

Thanks for your comments and for staying with us using the wonderful Scoopon deal. We run these once a year at the beginning of winter, and have a lot of fun welcoming new guests to us. yes the quieter months are a good time to knock back all the maintenance items (it seems to be a list as long as my leg some days). Good points and thanks for taking the time to write a balanced review. Kindest regards, Rikki

Was supposed to stay for 2 nights but left after the 1st night as there was nothing to do! Too far from the attractions and having to catch the ferry to go into town can get very expensive if you want to do it a few times. The kiosk food is quite expensive and quite small for the price.
The cabins should be cleaned better, the utensils were filthy and the kettle was horrible, guests are made to wash their dishes when they leave but the cleaners should double check.
The pools were locked so we could not use them.
Only 2 minutes walk to the beach.

Of course being a in the middle of 'nowhere' is a big attraction for many guests. For the record we are about 4.9kms to the first shopping centre i.e. Dan Murphys, butcher, newsagent, tavern, baker, chemist, restaurants. Then another 4kms to the centre of town.

We offer 'pub style' meals which I feel are reasonably priced beer battered flat head, chips and salad for $14.50, or gourmet steak burger for $15, Red Emperor salad and chips for $22. We have a wonderful chef - I really think this is a strong point of our Village.

The Ballina Beach Village is a wonderful place to stay. It took only 1.5 hours from Gold Coast to get there. I liked the way it is away from the busy town centre and therefore nice and quiet. The only traffic that goes by is to arrive at the park which is good. There is lots of activities for young children also. You can drive on the beach from the parks door step down to Evans Head. Overall it is a lovely park which I will definately be making our weekend getaway place to go. The staff also were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: the park is very clean and tidy
