Discovery Parks - Ballina
Reviewed December 22, 2012

We (family of 4 - 2 younger kids 4 & 6) stayed here for 2 nights and while it poured rain on the first night, the second night was great. Balling is a wonderful place to visit. This park is well known around my circle of friends as a good place to stay. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a lake side villa or caravan spot.

Stayed on an pwered ensuite site many times. Very clean and and one of the biggest ensuites we have ever experienced. Sites are a good sized, most with concrete slabs but also well grassed. Park is very quiet, a short walk to the beach and the breakwater, with also a good walking track into town. Only ever have a problem with the same staff member on a friday arfternoon when we check in, however when we check out on a sunday the staff are very friendly. Well priced with an online discount available. Highly recommend this park which is why we keep coming back on a regular basis

We have recently stayed at this Holiday Park for a family reunion/Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration. There were 55 of us and we had a great weekend. The cabins were clean, the childrens playground was great and the function room was well appointed. The reception staff were very friendly and helpfull. The midgies were quite bad on one morning - so take the aerogard and have a great time!

Room Tip: My family chose a variety of cabins and everyone was happy with what they chose - If you have a larg...

We stayed as a large group at the park for a weekend and found the cabin accomodation to be very clean and modern. The 2 BR cabins have 2 bathrooms but the second bedroom has 2 sets of bunks which are very cramped. Not ideal for adults although great for children. There is limited hanging space and no drawers in the 2nd bedroom. The park is positioned on the water and is very quiet. It is a short drive from the township of Ballina, not suitable to stay at without transport. Would return if I was looking for this type of holiday.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with a larger group there are a group of 4 cabins which can house 6 people in...

We stayed in Lakeside Waterfront studio cabin accommodation. The cabin was very clean and well appointed, but just a little cramped in the bedroom and bathroom. We are quite slim people but anyone generously built would have trouble manoeuvering around the bed. Very minimal space to hang clothes and nowhere to place bags. Not a problem if you are only staying one or two nights but bags for a week would be challenging. The holiday park staff are very helpful and the amenities are excellent. Outlook from the waterfront cabins is great and one can walk along the edge of the inlet to the lighthouse (and other walking tracks - of which there are many). Biggest downside was the sandflies and biting midges, which were so bad we were unable to sit outside the cabin at any time. The management do warn about the pesky little critters but no amount of insect repellant seemed to stop them and I was bitten many times! Perhaps they are only so bad at certain times of the year. Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Book a villa or bungalow instead of a cabin if space is a priority

The cabin had everything for a meal for two. Good location to the break wall. Has everything to have a fun family holiday. We stayed in a cabin right on the water. It was the most amount of rain & wind we've ever seen and the cabin did well. We will stay here again.

We stayed in an ensuite caravan site for a week over the easter break with our 18 month old son. We also had another family with a 2 & 4 year old stay at the same time with us. This park is in a great location on the lake, great for the boys to play and paddle, great for the big boys to fish and find yabbies. The park is very clean and well maintained. The facilities for kids is awesome, kids pool is the best we've seen. Jumping pillow and games room for the littlies was a big hit. The only down side would be the closeness of the sites, you need to be prepared for lots of noise at peak times, but I believe this would be the case in most caravan parks. We had a fantastic time and have rebooked again for next Easter! :)
