My husband and I visited Tallaringa Views for 2 nights for our anniversary. We really enjoyed our visit, and found it to be a lovely and relaxing place to stay! We hope to return soon.
The location was lovely, far out in the hinterland. We enjoyed the bush surrounds and the chance to get away from it all. It was a fair drive to Byron (45 mins) which may bother some, but as we were looking to stay in the hinterland this did not pose a problem for us. Other little towns like Alstonville, etc were near by for buying the milk and bread, etc.
One of our favourite aspects of Tallaringa was the property itself. There was a beautiful waterhole where we enjoyed swimming and looking for turtles. It was absolutely lovely. Be aware, it is a very steep hill to climb back up to the cabins! But we enjoyed the chance for the exercise :)
The verandah was also lovely, with it's hammocks and Weber BBQ to enjoy. We enjoyed reading here, and a glass of wine looking out to the peaceful surrounds.
The cabin was extremely well stocked, with everything you could require for your stay. we were very impressed, as there were picnic sets, all the kitchen appliances we could require, DVD's, and every little thing we may have needed.
We were concerned at first when we discovered there was no air conditioning, but there was lots of good ventilation so we did not find this an issue.
The 2 cabins are quite close together. This did not bother us as from the cabin itself and back verandah there was good privacy, but it would be worth noting if there were noisy neighbours, etc.
Being so close to nature, we did find that there was a bit of dust, dead bugs, etc, particularly in the hammocks and outdoor spa (we had to give it a clean before we used it). While everything inside was well looked after and very tidy, keeping things perfectly clean at all times is obviously difficult in the bush.
One thing I did find a little off-putting was several little signs within the cabin giving instructions or warnings. For example (I am paraphrasing), "don't put firewood on the floor, as it will get dirty", "take the DVD out of the box in this way so it won't snap", "use only 2 drops of bubble bath to begin with so it doesn't froth over", etc. I suppose some people might find these tips and hints helpful, but it made me feel a little 'supervised'. Having said that, perhaps the owners have had trouble with these things in the past and need to protect themselves. A "please/thank you/we appreciate your assistance", would have helped these sound a little less intimidating.
This was one of the nicest cabins we have stayed in in terms of hinterland location. We really loved our stay, and would not hesitate to return to Tallaringa :)
*On another note, at the time of our visit the property was for sale. While we found our stay to be really lovely and pleasant, it would be worth noting that there is likely to be a management change in the near future.
