We have just returned from a trip to the Snowy's (week of the 9th July) and stayed at this motel for a few nights. The accommodation in the rooms was cosy and there's an awesome log fire in the (surprisingly huge) lounge area. The food was superb as other people have pointed out, we ate there every day, and importantly there's a games area for the kids which adjoins the restaurant so you can eat in peace while the kids entertain themselves. We normally hunt for restaurants with kids play areas so this was a very welcome feature. Staff were friendly and helpful in every respect.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our recent trip to the snow field and the experience was so so. The room was quite small and they managed to fit 1 queen bed, 2 single beds plus a sofa bed in there, so wasn't too much room to move around. After I checked out their website, I booked the "luxury" room with air-condition, only to find out that the air-condition is really old and only works for cooling. So we had to rely on a tiny gas heater to warm up the room at night, and frankly, it wasn't quite enough. The good thing about this place is the cleaness and the tiny play room for the kids. But you've got to pay for all the games in the play room, including pool table etc.

Breakfast only goes from 7 to 8.30am, plus dinner finishes at 8.30pm. One day we were so tired after spending the whole day at the snow and decided to take a nap before dinner, and got to the restaurants at 8.15pm and was told the kitchen is closed and there is no place we can eat whatsoever, because its so remoted. We also asked the receiption lady if we could use the microwave then because we were really hungry and really needed to eat, and was told they are cleaning the floor in the kitchen so there is no way we can enter it or use anything at all, which I thought was insane. Anyway, so we actually have to go to bed hungry that night...

Thankyou for your comments, however I was surprised to read that you thought our rooms were small, as we receive a lot of comments to the contrary. The room you booked is centrally heated in winter with water panel heaters, not gas, and are cooled by the air conditioners in summer according to the seasonal conditions we have in Adaminaby.
The safety of our staff and customers are always a high priority for us and it was on this basis that we were unable to assist you in reheating food in our kitchen at the time you asked, we always happy to assist our guests with any special requests with appropriate prior arrangement.
Kind regards,
Geoff

We stayed for the weekend from 7/7/12 and left on the 10/7/12.From the very first night we had no hot water and were told to wait until later in the evening as everyone gets in first and uses it all.Yet again the second night(Sunday) no hot water, just lukewarm showers with just the hot water running. We decided to leave for the snow later on Monday morning and we saw new hot water tanks being installed. We arrived back that night to find, still no hot water and went to reception yet again. They went to check which took at least 30 min, meanwhile reception was booking another lady in without one word to her about the fact that they were checking the hot water system out as there had been problems. We were finally told it would take hours for the system to heat up as people kept using it,so we had to wait until morning to even get a shower and that was the morning we were leaving. We finally got our shower and it was hot.I went to check out(10/7/12) and pay for our meals and told reception yet again we had no hot water for the whole time we were here and the lady said there have been problems with the hot water and she said she didn't know why they hadn't been fixed(this was a different lady not the same I had been dealing with which I think may have been the owner). So why weren't we told and why did they book us in and charge us full price for the room? We stayed for 3 nights and paid $630 and had no offer of a rebate,a discount next time or a percentage off...........NOTHING........they took FULL price for the room which I had paid upon arrival. I then found out after we left we were charged for 4 continental breakfasts, but only my husband went for a hot breakfast one morning.I called to check it out when I got back home and was told she would have to check with the wait staff because it was a matter of he said she said.I got annoyed and said there is 5 of us not 4 and that only my husband went for breakfast and I should be refunded she went off at me and then said she would refund the difference........yet again no compensation.I called again on the 11/7/12 to check that the refund had been done and it had been, but was told the bank takes it straight from her account but then they like to keep the interest for a few days before they pass the refund on to me.So I said well it is no different from you collecting full price for a room with no hot water and there was no apology. We had to ask for toilet paper one day........no problem there........but she said she would have a talk to the cleaner.Well who talks to her about dishonesty with the hot water system.................GUESTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD OF THE PROBLEM.The restaurant on the other hand was amazing and so were the restaurant staff, and the food BRILLIANT. But I don't think you can eat there unless you stay there. They were really nice people, but really nice and friendly unfortunately doesn't always mean honest and fair.

Room Tip: If you do want to stay there or have to, do not stay in the bunk rooms, which are in the brumby wing...

Thankyou for your comments, hot water failures are one of those things that occur sometimes at the worst time, as soon as the issue with the hot water system was indentified, our staff organised the tradesmen to attend and rectify the problem as you noted, the tank was replaced ASAP, which Management organised immediately. Unfortunately as many guests were trying to use the hot water at the same time, not everyone would have access to hot water at the level expected at the same time due to the time needed to reach full capacity after being replaced.
The reception staff, as you acknowledged, tried to alert all guests of the issue, and tried for a best work around situation at the time. I am sorry that your experience was not what we would have liked for all our guests.

We are glad that you liked our new restaurant team and menu, and we can let you know that it is open to the public, anyone is able to dine here and enjoy our great meals.

As you would now be aware we rectified the issue with your billing as soon as the error was bought to our attention.

With the best of all our Customers interests at heart at all times,
Kind regards,
Geoff

We had stayed at this Motel some years ago and it was just Ok. We were at the snow fields for a day trip, and as the snow was great due to the recent falls, decided to stay overnight. Checked in and Wow, what a difference, service very welcoming, everything looks freshly painted and decor updated. Prices were good value, it was everything we needed after a big day. Love the lounge area with the log fire. We will be back.

I stayed in this motel this week with a little trepidation due to some reviews left. Our company had organized a three day retreat. I spoke to the managers about the rooms and why they had received such bad reviews on trip advisor. They told me that they were new and that the motel was owned by company and had spent close to half a million on renovations. I found no ashtrays inside the motel and also noted that it had a no smoking policy. The food was good, with the food being of high quality and quite satisfying. The staff was friendly and the room was quite clean. My only complaint was that is quite brisk walking from the room to the guest lounge area but when you got there it was heated by a big log fire. A real snowy mountains experience!

Did a quick pre-ski weekend get away to check locations for a planned ski holiday with several other families. We will definitely be back, great value, clean warm rooms, great location, close to Selwyn and not to far to get to the other ski fields either. Plenty of space for the kids to get away from us, and still be safe and close by. Staff were super helpful and gave us lots of suggestions and tips for places to visit.

Room Tip: Family rooms are great value and well laid out.

We stayed here in the quiet week before Easter. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious (sleep 4), clean and well maintained. Each room has its own double doors opening onto a small patio overlooking a pleasant grassed area and garden. The cooked breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced at $15. The rooms have hydronic heating, although this does not extend to the bathrooms.

Room Tip: The front rooms look over the lawned area towards the main road (but not noisy), while the rear room...
