A taste of history and taste of a 5-star culinary experience! It's all in the details, and our hosts Hugh and Debra made our B&B experience one we want to share with everyone! From the exquisitely manicured lawns, stylishly period appointed rooms and immaculate heritage vibe that can be felt throughout their lovingly maintained main floor and guest rooms, we could not wish for a better experience, better dining, or better hosts! Thank you!!!

As others have written before.... this is a must on your way through Merrickville. Deb and Hugh friendly dispositions make you feel so very welcomed. Breakfast is like no other I've had during stop overs in 5 star accommodations. You have the choice of sitting out on the spacious Victorian veranda or in the lovely dinning room surrounded by period decor. All the while Deb and Hugh go to great lengths to meet all your needs and or requests. We were also fortunate to have a fabulous dinner pared with very nice wines and lots of laughter with other guests. Look forward to returning on our next trip through Merrickville.

I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly. The Victorian heritage home is stunning and the rooms are beautifully decorated in keeping with the era.
The breakfast was the best we ever had in any B&B or hotel. Served in the gorgeous dining room (as it was too cold to eat on the porch), the food prepared by chef Debra was incredible and Hugh's service was impeccable.
We are so lucky to have found this B&B - we will always stay here when in the area.

During a roadtrip in August 2012, we had the good fortune of staying at the Millisle in Merrickville, for 2 nights. We are not B&B regulars, but the Millisle looked like a good option for accomodation in the area. What a great find! The setting is elegant, yet relaxed. Hugh and Debra are wonderful hosts, who know how to balance the mix between attentiveness and privacy. Breakfast was served on the patio/balcony, and we savoured delicious breakfast with a view of the gardens, both mornings. We had arranged for Debra, who is an accomplished chef, to prepare dinner for us on the 2nd night. Bruschetta (delicious unique spin on what is usually a mundane appetizer), wonderful warm blueberry chevre salad, mojito sorbet, Beef Wellington and rasperry chocolate creme brulee were beautifully served, with Hugh's perfect fine wine choices. We dined on the patio, in the soft summer twighlight, in one of the most ethereal settings that could be imagined. Thanks Debra and Hugh. All the best. Hope to get back to Merrickville again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Empire room, which featured a lovely corner sitting area, overlooking the street. V...

Merrickville is a delightful village, and this is the perfect home away from home in Merrickville. The home is a gem, and Debra and Hugh are the crown jewels of this B&B. The breakfasts are superb, Hugh and Debra make you feel like old friends. Going to be traveling in the Merrickville area? Stay here!

As always Debra and Hugh seemed to be there to greet us at the door after we came by boat from our home four hours down-river on the Rideau Canal system. And, as usual, we docked our boat at Ayling's Marina conveniently located a short walk away. (This is our fourth trip there by boat - and we have come an equal number of times by car.) After we checked in we toured the village - and as usual found some Christmas gifts - in July. While the inn is well decorated and charming (with period furniture inside and a wrap-around porch outside) and the breaklfasts are even better, the highlight was the pre-ordered dinner designed and prepared by Chef Debra. Always inventive and always featuring local produce in season the elegant meal was pleasantly served with wine and commentary by Hugh. (During our village tour we even ran into him at the local LCBO as he purchased appropriate libations.) While elegantly presented, and well served, the value of the meal does not stop there. The tastes seem to blend beautifully from one course to the next. Indeed, only a word my Mother used to use seems to fit - the food is "scrumptuous." Dinner reservations are required well in advance, and you may find yourself dining with others - and the chances are that almost everyone you meet at Milleisle will be a repeat customer.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the whirlpool...

If you are looking for a B&B to either just rest quietly and enjoy the sounds and atmophere or you want the location and meals this is the place for you. Debra and Hugh have devoted their time to this gorgeous B&B and it shows in the service, conversation and just relaxing atmosphere. My sister and I have never stayed in a B&B that offerred so much ombience and so picturesque. The service and meals were to die for and we have definately recommended to a number of our friends and colleagues.
