Description: The Quarterdeck Restaurant is located at The Nare Hotel on Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula. With spectacular sea views over Gerrans Bay, it is the perfect place to meet family and friends for a relaxed lunch or stylish evening meal. The Quarterdeck has a classical yachting décor, sheltered terrace and a reputation for fabulous food made with the finest local ingredients. We have always been a big supporter of West Country farmers and specialise in locally reared beef and the freshest of seafood caught from waters almost on the doorstep. The Nare's wine cellar is extensive with wines from all round the world selected and laid down by Toby Ashworth, proprietor.

My husband took me here for a meal to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. The place was beautiful with a stunning vista overlooking Carne beach. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and all looked very smart. The food (I had the best steak I've ever had) was superb, and was well presented. A little pricey, but well worth it for that special occasion.

Average Food. Expensive. Good Service. No Roast Lunch on Sunday: unusual for such a traditional restaurant.

The Nare occupies a beautiful spot overlooking Carne beach, and the sheltered terrace at The Quarterdeck is the perfect spot to enjoy the views. As expected from a 4 star hotel, food and wine were of a high quality. I chose sea trout with samphire and crushed potatoes, which was fresh and well-seasoned. Dessert wasn't quite as successful - the lemon mousse was a little too bland and sugary for my taste. Service was good on the whole. Toilets were spotlessly clean.

Although the dress code was smart casual, the atmosphere was slightly stiff. Lots of older clientele (could have been because it was mid-week) and an old-fashioned air to the surroundings. Very nice, but with so many fab eateries in Cornwall, not somewhere I'd rush back to.
