“Smile Milton!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Have stayed at this lovely Hotel twice and haven't been disappointed. Milton, the owner who greeted us had a rather 'disinterested' look on his face and at first wondered if we had made a mistake.
No we hadn't - Milton turned out to be most friendly and accomodating and his house is beautifully clean and comfortable.
I'm sure you would wish for nothing.
Fully recommended and next time we visit Cornwall this will be the first place we will look to for booking.

Room Tip: Have stayed in two of the rooms. Since our first stay some rooms have been well upgraded - don't...

Hi and thank you for the review. I am sorry I may have seemed a bit grumpy on arrival, not wishing to moan, but I have had a very bad back for several weeks, and it was really playing up on the Friday afternoon, sorry!! Look forward to seeing you soon.
P.S. Have now found the shower gel from your previous visit and will keep it fore your next visit.
Milton.

This is quite a find. After an exhausting day visiting Padstow and Tintagel, we were very pleased to fetch up at this oasis of calm and quiet. Milton is most welcoming, even carrying our cases up to our lovely double with ensuite. He and his wife were trained by one of the major London hotels, and it shows with the stylist furnishings and wall-coverings. Sensibly they provide guests with their own separate lounge, and this was beautifully appointed as well. Taking breakfast in the large kitchen, dominated by a rectangular refrectory table and a cheery singing Milton, was simply the best. This arrangement allowed us to enjoy a conversation with one of the other guest in a way which we both found very welcoming. Full marks for the Cambridge. I'm going back.

Milton was very warm and welcoming as soon as we turned up. Very kindly offered to help in any way he could. Although the building doesn't significantly stand out in the neighbourhood, the rooms are fresh, clean and modern. The shower is nice and powerful in the en-suite! A cot was provided for my son, it was bright pink but he's only 18 months old so didn't really mind!

As an aside, we must also recommend Betty's Tea Room in the main town, a nice independent coffee shop with friendly chefs and loads to chose from on their menus!

Overnight in the hotel, the bed and pillows were a bit too squashy for my personal comfort and it was a very muggy night so I didn't sleep all that well, but my son slept very peacefully. Apart from the annual fireworks display in Plymouth which happened to be going on that night, it is a quiet location away from any main roads! Breakfast was delicious, locally sourced produce (some from their own allotment!) and homemade bread. yum. Really did set us up for our return home.

We would definitely recommend staying here, don't see how anyone could rate Cambridge House anything else than excellent all round.

Room Tip: I thoroughly recommend the family room.

Ideally situated for the Eden project or for onward travel to the heart of Cornwall. Very helpful owner; great breakfast served in the dining room with kitchen; comfortable ensuite room; I particularly liked the well furnished sitting room as a quiet area to relax in. This had music, TV, reading material and a games cupboard. Clean and immaculately tidy.

My experience of Cambridge House was excellent from beginning to end with a warm welcome a clean and bright room along with a fantastically cooked full english breakfast before leaving. I say this as someone who spends well over a 100 nights per year in Hilton Hotels who could learn a lot from the hospitality shown by our hosts at Cam House. If I am in the area again I will certainly book a room! Thank you.

The place is run by someone who has clearly thought about what a good B&B should be. It is clean, comfortable and homely. The owner is friendly and helpful.
One downside is that the blinds in our bedroom were not very effective at keeping the light out.

I stayed at Cambridge House for 2 nights. They were very friendly and helpful from start to finish. The room was very clean and tidy and it had a tv and coffee making facilities.

Breakfast was made to my choice each morning and there was a very pleasant atmosphere in the breakfast room. The standard of the food was also very high.

All in all, I had a very nice stay there and would go back again. I would recommend Cambridge House to anyone staying in the Area.

For people doing courses in the area with VT Flagship up at HMS Raleigh, it is ideally situated less than 2 miles away from the front gate; less than 5 minutes in the car.
