There is not much to like or dislike about the ferry , it takes about 6 minutes to cross from one side to the other , it is run on chains & holds about 74 cars , less if there are are buses or lorry`s on board, you can get out of your car and go onto the upper deck to view the dockyard & up towards Saltash, there are toilets on board & also slot machines & vending machines bridge . It costs £1.50 (1 way only)cash to cross or 75p with tag.

The best way to get across the Tamar. A chain ferry that runs all day and in to the night. Can have queues up to 20 mins at peak times but well worth £1.50 for the return trip.

This cuts off so many driving miles if toy want Ramehead, Kingsand, Cawsand and Whitsand bay.
Free to enter Cornwall from Plymouth but a £1.50 (car) charge to get back.
The waiting time is about 10 minutes but if you time it right you get on almost straight away.
I take this route 4/6 times a year and love the 30 minute time out from driving. - get out out on the crossing and view the Tamer and take a photo or two.

This is a modern ferry service with 3 ferries often in service during peak times. The photo alongside needs updating! Useful for going to many parts of the Cornwall coast near the Tamar.
