“I love the Cremyll Ferry!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

How can you fail to love the Cremyll Ferry?! It's an incredibly sweet boat, which regularly and reliably takes you between Plymouth and Cornwall, with great views of the Royal William Yard. Can't wait till my next trip on the Cremyll Ferry.

“the old way”

go to Durnford Street in Stonehouse and the Cremyll Ferry is down Cremyll Street along abit on the right going up,its a short trip to the other side which would be Cornwall, there is a pub and small beach there, used to take my kids in the summer, something abit different than the big Torpoint ferries.

“Gateway to Paradise”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Admiral's Hard, in Stonehouse is the place where you board this little passenger ferry to cross the mouth of the River Tamar. On the other side you're a world away from the noise and bustle of the big city, in an oasis of calm and beauty which is the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

To find the ferry you follow a road leading to the shore and walk along a causeway if the tide is low. The ferries run frequently. The times are posted up at both ends, so check them for your return before you set off on your walk. The ferry has bus connections at both ends, too.

The ferry trip itself is scenic. You can admire the fine naval buildings facing upstream, known as the Royal William Yard, that are now being converted into luxury appartments, restaurants and bars. You can also see parts of the naval dockyard just up-river and you may see some ships or smaller craft like tug boats and catamarans that carry supplies to ships anchored far out in the Sound.
