We visited the Top House several time last October when we were staying locally. It's main draw initially was that dogs are welcome which meant a lot to us. We discovered it had more to offer, friendly locals, good food ( delicious deserts) and a lovely roaring fire . So again when we stayed near by last weekend , we didn't hesitate to eat there both evenings. I would recommend to anyone, and their dogs

Dear Wellydog

Many thanks for your lovely review. We are so pleased you had a great experience here and appreciated the warmth of our open fire and you felt welcome to bring your dog with you; that's great to hear. We hope to welcome you back very soon.

Best wishes,
James and Donna

We went here for a pub meal during our stay at Kennack Sands.
The food was typical pub food - as expected. Prices were a little more than other pubs in the area.
There is a small free car park outside the pub and a donation car park next door.

We had omelettes and they were a good size. Staff are friendly as are the locals.
Enjoyable meal and lunch and a good walk (15 mins) down to Lizard Point afterwards where we discovered a great café with superb views and menu!

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your meal and liked the omelettes.

We are a pub, and granted yes some of the dishes are what you would see on a pub menu, however we do source local produce and the majority of our dishes, desserts included, are homemade, so not the stereotypical pub fayre. The prices of our dishes therefore reflect the quality of ingredients, so our dishes will be a little higher in price but worth it. Even the omelettes on our light lunch menu are made using three free range farm eggs from a local farm.

We offer a wide variety of dishes so there really is something for everyone as we do serve a range of customers with varying expectations. Fresh fish is a speciality and we regularly feature fresh fish caught locally.

Perhaps next time you are in the area, you will come and try out some more of our homemade main dishes and see why we are earning a reputation for offering great quality food in a warm, welcoming environment.
Best wishes, James and Donna

This is a lovely old pub situated on the village green in Lizard, near Kynance Cove.
The welcome is warm, the real ales exceptional and the bar busy with friendly locals - the food (all locally sourced) is first class and reasonably priced - you must try the scallops with hogs pudding and smoked bacon - excellent !
The accomodation is very tasteful and we stayed in the Kynance bedroom - very comfortable with a view accross to the sea.
Overall, this is a very nice place to base yourself when exploring the delights of the Lizard Peninsula.

Room Tip: The bedroom 'Kynance' has a distant sea view, is nice and airy, has an excellent en-suite bathroom and the double bed is extremely comortable !

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are very proud of our Cornish Inn and it is always great to hear when guests have had a great stay with us. We have tried to keep the pub areas as traditional as possible as locals and visitors alike love to see the historical memorabilia and absorb the history of the place. It is good to hear you found your room to be very comfortable, just as it should be so you can relax after a busy day exploring the area. The scallops are a firm favourite and always well received, glad you recommend them too! We would love to welcome you back one day. Best wishes, James and Donna

We had a very nice home cooked meal in the restaurant area of this Pub. My husband had Scallops and hogs pudding....quite unusual and very nice!! There is a roaring log fire, gorgeous. The service and friendly staff are also worth a mention.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! It is good to hear you had a good meal and felt welcomed and well looked after by our team of friendly staff. The scallops are a firm favourite and always well received; glad your husband enjoyed them too! You can’t beat a roaring log fire in a traditional pub and so we always light the fire on cooler days. Come and see us again if you come back to The Lizard. Best wishes, James and Donna

The hosts and locals alike give a very warm welcome which was great as we'd just completed a blustery walk to Kynance Cove and back. My gf ate in the restaurant and said the food was very nice with very good service etc. The room was nice, very spacious with a lovely en-suite too.

Overnight, the weather was very cold, and the room we were in was freezing. I dont mind a cool room in the night but this was way too much. We mentioned to management in the morning and we were assured the heating was fine. I think because the two large windows in the room were both single glazed, with curtains that were aesthetic rather than substantial/fitted well for retaining heat, the room just lost all the heat from the evening.

Plus we had problems with warm water from the shower in the morning

Thank you so much for taking the time to submit a review.

We are so sorry that you found your room too cold overnight; our since apologies. It is our plan to upgrade the windows to double glazed, there are 58 windows in total in our building to be replaced and those within our B&B rooms will be the first priority. The blinds will be replaced when the new windows are in. We have been here at The Top House Inn for 3 years and when you stayed here it was the coldest we have known it, so it did take us by surprise. We did check the heating and it was all working fine, we extended the times it was on but clearly it needed to be on for longer overnight. There should not have been problems with the water temperature in the shower as this is set on constant, so we have arranged for the boiler to be looked at. Sorry you experienced problems, but thank you for your feedback.

On a positive note, we are pleased to hear you found us and our team so welcoming and enjoyed the food and service. We hope you would give us another try in the future.

Best wishes
James and Donna Glosby
