Very very disappointed. Plaice had hardly any flesh. Potatoes and veg substandard.
They need to buck up. The Top House. Is miles ahead.
Could not recommend.

We always book a table when in Cornwall. The pub seems to have gone down hill since we last visited. It was bank holiday Monday and there was only us and another couple in the restaurant, the pub was empty too. The food was not as nice as previous times. We did call in for a drink a few times and the pub was always empty.

Visited the Witchball for an evening meal Friday night, staff recommended we book a table, and it was so popular I suggest it's the best policy. Anyway, I had the pasta of the day (mozzarella and tomato topping) and my wife had plaice, new potatoes and salad. Both were served promptly and were excellent, one of the nicest pasta dishes I've had outside of an Italian resteraunt, and the fish was very fresh. We were in the vicinity at lunchtime next day, and ordered the mezze platter to share. I recommend this without reservation plenty. Unlike some establishments there was plenty for two, olives, humus, tzadziki masses of sun dried tomatoes and flat bread, all served with a fresh salad of mixed leaves and fetta cheese, a real feast which went down well with a pint of local beer. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient, and couldn't be more helpful, I can't help feeling that some people who gave a low rating live on another planet.

Had gone to The Witchball on Sunday 4th of May. After long day of walking, we were craving a good beer and good food, and what we got was far better than what we expected! The place looks like typical nice, but simple pub, but the food is way more interesting and delicious than in a regular pub. The portions have decent size. It's a really good value form money! And the selection of craft beer was great as well! The staff was really friendly, extremly helpful and just very lovely! and you can totally get the vibe of a charming little Cornish town, sipping on ur Cornish beer, surrounded by cheerful locals. Highly recommend!

After hiking all day, we went in to ask about getting something to take away. The staff weren't very welcoming--seemed a bit put off by us asking for take away (didn't offer a seat while we waited and didn't seem to know what was on their take away menu). It was a bit off-putting, especially after the long day.
