Lovely setting,It's remote but it suited us fine. Beautiful views over the coast. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We were allowed into the room at 1130 as we needed to get ready for a wedding and no extra charges. Breakfast was very nice, great quality produce. Room was clean and very comfy and overall not a single complaint.

We are Guest house owners in North Devon and have just returned from a 4 day short break at the Bucklawrens.
In fact we have been visiting these excellent farm Cottages for over 15years now and can reassure any potential guests who maybe considering booking, that they will not be dissapointed.

Unfortunately we are unable to tell you who we are on Trip advisor, but if you contact Jean at the Bucklawens, i,m sure she will give you own contact details and we will be happy to tell you how lovely an experience it is to stay at the Bucklawrens.

There is no further point in explaining more now, because all the positive feedback reviews say it all and all we can do is agree and reiterate what has already been said.

As for the two negative reviews, all we can same in relpy is that there are always guests who will complain,no matter how well they are treated,we have experience the same from a couple of our guests in the past.

It is just human nature that for some of our valued guests, nothing is good enough.!!!!!

However please dont hesitate to contact us through Jean if you still need further assurance.

Have a great time in Looe at Bucklawrens.

Room Tip: We have stayed in all over the years and they are all good.

we rented the lodge holiday cottage for a week in august and it was perfect we had a lovely holiday, however on the site there is a restaurant which is run independently by someone else. on our last evening they had a wedding function on which carried on until 2am with a live band playing it was impossible to sleep at all and we were leaving at 6 as we had a 9 hour drive to get home so our holiday was ruined by this so anyone thinking of going should make enquiries beforehand if there are going to be functions of this nature.during their stay it would be even worse with children .

We are sorry to hear of your experience on the last night of your holiday. We wish you had contacted us or the restaurant manager at the time. This would have given us the opportunity to overcome the situation.

We stayed here summer 2011. The location is beautiful, quiet and has stunning views across the bay and lovely rolling countryside. The owners are charming, welcoming, hardworking and very kind. The gardens are very pretty and well kept.

However, to be brutally honest, we found the accommodation extremely old fashioned, the beds very uncomfortable, the living space very cramped and the decor generally hideous. The duvets and pillows were lumpy, the sofa was broken (as was one of the beds) and the furniture is the yellow-stained pine basic rental style.

The accommodation was clean, though not spotless (we found sweet wrappers and debris under three of the beds). The gardens are very nice, although there was animal mess on the lawns on a few occasions (foxes? ) which we cleaned off the kids shoes.

After a long day on the beach it wasn't a place one longed to return to for relaxation. The smell of (previous occupants') dogs lingered and there was dog hair on the swirly patterned carpets.

Can't remember the name of our cottage - Horseshoe? -We found the biggest problem was that the accommodation is very small for a family with children.

We are sorry your holiday did not meet your expectations. We ask guests to report damage so it can be rectified as soon as possible. We have a strict cleaning routine between stays. If threre was a problem, it would have been helpful if we had been informed so that we had the opportunity to address it.
The cottages are sold as traditional stone cottages which have been converted from old farm buildings. The conversions have been tastefully done to retain some of the original features. The photographs on our website clearly show the decor of the property. No mention has been made of the kitchen and bathroom which have both been recently fully replaced.
I draw your attention to another review headed ''Cornish Country Charm'' from a family who stayed in the same cottage in August and were delighted.

Great location allowing easy access to the beauty and sights of Cornwall. We had only a few days to enjoy our visit to Cornwall, but from this location we were able to travel and see many of the beautiful things Cornwall has to offer, Tintagel and the Bodmin Moor, the Western Devon Mining locations, the beautiful fising villages of Looe, Polperro and St. Mawes and the lovely estate and gardens of Lanhydrock. We started each morning with a cooked to order breakfast and excellent service and returned each evening to a beautiful and comfortable room. The owner was most welcoming and gracious. We had a lovely experience here and would recommend it highly to anyone that values comfort, quiet and a beautiful landscape.

We stayed in The Horseshoe with our two children aged 11 and 15. The cottage was immaculate with great attention to detail. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with equipment and we enjoyed making our own meals in the cottage. Robert and Jean are very hard working and maintain the properties and gardens to a high standard. We could not have wished for a more perfect location for our stay in this beautiful part of Cornwall. We all slept well and soon after arriving it felt like home from home. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.
