“Warm and Homely”
Reviewed October 11, 2018 for a stay in October 2018

"Palm Cottage" is a delightful, warm, well appointed friendly cottage in the little village of Newton. Ideally placed for the many coastal path walks of the "Lizard Peninsular" and inland walks nearby. Small harbours, coves and small beaches abound and there are many excellent eating places to discover including the excellent Inn just over the road.
A most enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and am pleased that you had an enjoyable few days exploring the unique Lizard Peninsula with its AONB coastal footpath and the many inland walks.
The Prince of Wales pub just over the road indeed has a pleasant ambience and serves very good food at a reasonable price.

“Homely and good location”
Reviewed August 5, 2018 for a stay in August 2018

We found Palm Cottage to be homely and had almost everything we needed during our holiday. It was well located for the local dive centre at Porthkerris where we spent 3 days. The pub opposite, although a little pricey, served very good food. The cottage has a lovely garden and large garage which was really useful. The cottage would have been more comfortable with a larger, softer bed in the main bedroom.

Thank you for your kind review and am pleased that you had an enjoyable week, certainly taking advantage of the mature garden and spacious garage, no doubt to keep all your diving gear.
I doubt that the main bedroom could cope with a larger bed although am sorry that you found the double bed mattress too firm, although for some that is a preference, but we'll certainly review this when we're down there next month.

Thank you for your generous, detailed and helpful review following your recent short stay at Palm Cottage. I am pleased that you had an enjoyable time.

There are public footpaths from the house, to St Martin, a short distance from the house but probably not easy to locate without referring to one of the local OS maps in the property.

One of our favourite walks is from Kestle Barton, brown signposted opposite the Cottage, down Frenchmean’s Creek, into Helford, over the footbridge bridge, turn right, up through the woods and return; about three miles.

When we decided to go on holiday to Cornwall for my birthday,we came across Palm Cottage and instantly fell for its charms..On arrival it was everything we wished for and it felt like coming home..!! Even down to the small details dog biscuits for our two jack Russell’s a pint of milk and chocolate biscuits went down a treat with a cup of tea. It was so relaxing we need to come back as so much more to explore. It was my 70th birthday and I will always remember Palm Cottage with such fond memories of my special day thank you and to the public try it you won’t be disappointed if you like a relaxing holiday lots of walks, and if you like travelling plenty of places to visit regards Sheila and Roy.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and am pleased that you had an enjoyable few days at Palm Cottage celebrating your special birthday.
The coastal footpath, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is indeed a wonderful area to walk especially along the nearby Frenchman's Creek into Helford.
Situated as it is more or less in the centre of the Lizard peninsula, there are several picturesque fishing villages and beaches within a short drive away and not to mention inland, the lovely old town of Helston.

“Excellent holiday”
Reviewed June 24, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

We had another excellent holiday visiting new and familiar areas and places. Highly recommended place to stay (ourselves and family have stayed here over ten times) that allows for relaxation and comfort, centrally located to many of the local and not so local tourist attractions, both coastal and inland. A beautiful venue in a stunning location.

Thank you for your kind comments following your further visit to Palm Cottage.
My wife and I are delighted that you had a comfortable and relaxing time within the cottage and garden, located as it is more or less in the middle of the Lizard peninsula, making it easy to explore either or on foot or by car some of its several pretty inland hamlets, picturesque fishing villages and magnificent beaches.
Needless to say you will be most welcome to stay at Palm Cottage whenever you choose.

“Lovely week in this cosy cottage”
Reviewed April 14, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

We enjoyed a great week in Palm Cottage with three teens. Comfortable and clean, it felt very homely and nothing like a ‘holiday let’ and much more like a home which was lovely. Ideal for relaxing, but also loads to do in the area and had a great meal at the local pub on the first night. Plus enjoyed the quiz there on the Sunday. Would definitely book again. Communication was excellent with the owner too.

Thank you very much for your kind review and am pleased that you all had an enjoyable week, finding plenty of things to do and places to see in the local area.
It's always a good idea to book in at the Prince of Wales pub, just over the road, on the first night after a long journey.
My wife and I are delighted that you found the cottage comfortable and homely since we regard it as very much our second home, not a mere Holiday Let.
Communication with you too was excellent and we look forward to you and your family taking another holiday at Palm Cottage in the near future.

“Another Great Stay at Palm Cottage !”
Reviewed April 9, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Booked this cottage again after staying there previously . We found it just as charming as before. The cottage was quiet cold on arrival due to cold spat in weather but once in and settled it soon warmed up . We lit a fire and cottage was really cosy and homely . The cottage has selection of board games which came in very useful in the evenings , having three family generations staying we sat around the coffee table by the fire playing games . We still love the welcome tray on arrival , such a lovely touch .The house is well positioned for visiting all the local sights and the pub over road is added bonus. We always had plenty of hot water for showering , often not the case when six of you are sharing a property . The cottage garden is lovely no matter what the weather and full of birds in the morning. And if you are lucky you will see a couple of bats flying around at dusk and the amazing sunsets. We once again visited our favourite place, taking my son and his partner there for their first ever visit , the fabulous Roskillies Farm . Best Ice cream ever made here and we only know about this hidden gem due to staying at palm cottage .My daughter , whom is autistic loves the cottage and especially the Beatrix Potter room and runs to it as soon as we arrive , she said she missed Palm cottage already as we left. Thank you Michael W once again for letting us stay again.
The very grateful Rolfe family.

Thank you very much for your generous and detailed review and am delighted that you've had another enjoyable week at Palm Cottage.
The open fire is very popular with many of our guests particularly when it's cold and damp outside since it quite quickly warms up the house and spirits!
I was not surprised to read that your daughter liked the Beatrix Potter bedroom since it's a firm favourite with many of our young guests as indeed is a visit to Roskilly's Farm, especially to watch the milking of the beautiful Jerseys, as well as having one of their delicious ice creams. Am pleased too that you were able to enjoy the spacious garden from where you must have seen one of the frequent spectacular sunsets.
Your family are star guests and needless to say you will be most welcome to take yet a further holiday at Palm Cottage.
