The (now) privately run station buffet overlooks the proper old-fashioned GWR railway platforms. This is where the branch line to St Ives meets the Penzance to Paddington express.
The café ambience and décor is 1940's, with big-band music gently flowing from a replica old wireless.
The snacks and coffee are excellent and the staff are very friendly.
Another bonus is that St Erth is one of the stops on the 300 bus route, which operates open-top double decker buses on a circular tour of Penwith - a must for any visitor (and free for old codgers with a bus pass).
