We went for a family lunch, Sunday carvery, booked in advance but this wasnt neccesary in the end and we had a great table in the sun outside. Good selection of drinks and local wine. On first inspection the cavery was good, cornish beef, turkey and a gammon. But we were let down by the service, the person carving really couldn't be bothered and hardly cracked a smile. The beef was very over done, dry and disappointing. Good selection of veg though. In the end an ok meal, but we wont have carvery again and will order off the menu. Prices were ok too.

We've just got back from spending a few nights here, as part of our "mini moon". The hote//pub is in a fantastic location, just a minutes walk from the gorgeous, picturesque fishing port of Charlestown, St Austell, and a short drive from main nearby attractions such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The room was lovely, but above all, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The food and beer wasn't bad either...we would highly recommend it to anyone...the hotel/pub has a large car park to the rear, but beware if you have a sporty car with a hard suspension due to the cobbley, uneven surface! But this would be the only downside... perfectly manageable if you take it slowly!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in this hotel and I can't speak highly enough of it. The rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. The food was outstanding. We travelled with 2 other friends and between us we sampled quite a few dishes on the menu and were never disappointed with any. The staff are all very helpful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. This is a hotel we will be returning to and will be recommending to our friends and family. Great value for money and a great location.

As this was not our first visit we were well prepared for the friendly welcome, attentive staff, great food and well kept beers...we were not disappointed!! Our room (crows nest) was clean, spacious and well stocked with towels, soaps and a courtesy tray for tea & coffee that was restocked daily although if you needed extra it would have been provided along with jugs of fresh milk if you needed it.

Everyone at The Rashleigh from the bar staff to the waiting staff, breakfast servers to the room cleaners are great, nothing is too much trouble and you get the impression that they really enjoy working there.

The location is quiet just a small harbour a couple of pubs and holiday cottages but that said it's the perfect place to explore Cornwall from.

I'd reccomend a break here to anyone

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the service was second to none - I work in customer service and I don't give this kind of praise lightly! I'd like to give a special mention to the breakfast waitress, who was lovely.

We has breakfast both days, which was a good meal made with local produce, and dinner on the first night. Again good food at a good price.

When booking, please remember this is a pub and most rooms are over the bar and look over the pub garden, so not exactly quiet! The only negative comments I can make is that the sea view is a bit distant, through the gap in the buildings! Charlestown is a lovely place and really handy for the Eden Project and Heligan

From the moment we arrived until we left 4 days later we were bowled over with the place, service, cleanliness, food and so on. Nothing was too much trouble and ALL staff, without exception were friendly, polite and could not have done more to make us feel at home.

I know that the Rashleigh has regulars that visit on a frequent basis, and we hope to be numbered among them! Can't wait to go back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Rashleigh Arms was built in 1851 on the foundations of old clay cellars and was given its name after the creator of Charlestown Harbour, formerly West Polmear, Charles Rashleigh. It also boasts probably one of the only Grade II listed car parks in the country, basically the site of old coal storage yards, and is situated in a World Heritage Site. The Rashleigh is ideally positioned in central Cornwall and provides an excellent jump off point for lots of great attractions with the world famous Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan within five miles radius. We are also within sight of the historic Tall Ships and Charlestown harbour, a world heritage site and an attraction in itself. The Pub has moved with times and although over 150 years old boasts eight four star gold rated rooms, a public bar, popular with the locals that shows all live sport and has great bands every fortnight. Our lounge bar is fantastic for relaxing in with large leather sofas and armchairs with a touch of historic Charlestown. The restaurant is modern, open plan and serves locally sourced food from 12 - 9pm every day; and if the weather's good our patio and garden is the ideal place to spend a few hours or more! ... more   less
