From the outside Wheal Martyn doesn't look like much. What a hidden gem. We were greeted by a friendly and extremely helpful lady. The whole site is very interesting. Not for the faint hearted as there are some pretty steep footpaths upto a spectacular pit view-breath taking.(unless tge mist rolls in obviously! ) The visitors centre explains the history of China clay. The old sheds are there full of exhibits. Models are slightly dated but interesting none the less. Our 4 year old was mesmerised by it all. There are plenty of places to sit or even have a picnic. A small children's play area and challenge walk is available too. On buying entry tickets you get a free return.
We didn't use the cafe but the food smelt delicious. The gift shop is reasonably priced too. If you get a chance visit this piece of our history.
