“Excellent hotel and staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

Me and my newly found husband had our wedding reception in the function room at the white hart, which simply was amazing from start to finish! Couldn't have asked for any more. There was the perfect amount of staff interaction not too much but not too less. Nothing seemed to much hassle for the staff and were amazingly helpful and polite. The hotel was newly decorated and is beautiful there is a lovely relaxed ora, making our reception perfectly chilled. Management are very lovely and shared a drink with them and another family member who was also staying. The bar had very lovely and knowledgeable staff and a lovely variety of drinks. Would come back in a heart beat!
We also stayed in room one- hicks from what we found out from the owners is all to do with the brewery. We had a gorgeous and simple room with a queen size bed and a lovely bath/shower and toilet with ample toiletries. The Cornish breakfast was beautifully cooked and you could taste the quality in ingredients. Simple an amazing time we had and it really has made our wedding day a memorable one for all the right reasons. Thank you!

We stayed here for one night in January 2014. This hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Has an excellent bar area with a good range of beers, spirits and wine served by very friendly and knowledgeable Bar staff. Our room was on the second floor with a huge window and view over the street outside. The room had a quaint name, was tastefully furnished and had an excellent bathroom and shower with plenty of towels and toiletries. We ate in the beautiful, recently decorated restaurant; and particularly liked all the crystal fittings. The food was delicious, very tasty, reasonably priced and together with the service from Richard our waiter an excellent experience. Included in the price was a full Cornish breakfast which was superb. The hotel also has it's own car park across the road which is free.

Stayed at the hotel, in a large family room. Had a great meal in the bar area. Cocktails were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff! Felt really welcome. The cornish breakfast was fab, just what we ended the next morning. The newly refurbished restaurant was fab. Thank you and see you next year.

I have always enjoyed going for coffee here as the staff and atmosphere have always been pleasant. The bar has recently undergone an 'odd' refurbishment and has lost a lot of it's character and charm, as have the staff.
Went for a coffee with a friend recently hoping for a piece of the lovely cake that they have recently introduced but was told in a surly fashion that they didn't have any (without checking first and without apology.) All the staff I encountered were scruffy and appeared totally disinterested in their job.
I have a dislike of high street coffee chains but feel that the next time I want to meet friends for coffee, Costa will be a better bet. At least the staff there smile!!

manager rude to staff in front of us, over 30 mins wait for food, cold plates, overcooked chips, undercooked scampi, cold peas and rock hard, smallest side salad ever seen, cheese under chips on red hot plates for kiddies. the manager cooked as chef had not come in to work, not a pleasant visit and probably go elsewhere next time. Oh yes, no soap in ladies toilet upstairs.

Booked a superior room with separate seating area and view over town. The separate seating area was two chairs placed at the window, which had a view over a shop opposite. We went to reception and I said Hello and the woman there turned her back on me withotu a word and went off to a n office; she came back 30 seconds later and said "I don't know how to do this" and went away again. Someone else then came and checked us in.

The restaurant was closed (although the website said it was open) so we had a meal in the bar; we sat with some people we met. When we finished I asked for the cost of the food to be pout on the room; the girl said it would show the whole cost of what we had and what the other people--strangers who were non-resident--had. Room ok but certainly not worth the money. Breakfast was even more weird; the girl said we couldn't sit in the breakfast room "as not enough people had left". There were four tables for four free, and there were two of us. We had to sit in the bar instead. She didn't come out there so when I wanted a refill of coffee I had to go and look for her in the kitchen.

Just too many hiccups to make this a value for money stay.

Room Tip: Find out exactly what facilities are available in the room if that is important to you.
