Becoming a tourist ripoff not value for money much better value chippies in local area tiny portion of chips. Owner must be making money hand over fist.

i don't want to completely slate this 'chippy' as the batter was crispy on the fish and the fish was tasty. However, the chips weren't crispy, looked unappetising and didn't taste anything special. The portion of chips and the size of fish were small for the price. More the size we'd expect for a mini fish and chips meal deal (they didn't do meal deals which really surprised us). Overall expected more from an award winning chip shop. We have an award winning chip shop near us. The portion and food quality are both excellent. This chip shop is in a different league. Note. We paid over £18 for two fish and chips with sauce, and a children's size fish and chips.

As locals we regularly buy fish and chips from the Holmbush fishbar . What we have noticed over recent months is that the prices are creeping up , so much so that this takeaway is now one of the most expensive in Cornwall . Although the fish is generally of an excellent quality the same can not be said of the chips ; invariably they seem to be tasteless , white in colour and not golden & crispy which surely they should be.

Have enjoyed several visits here. Gets very very busy on Fridays so be prepared for a long queue. Portions can be immense, with sometimes 2 fish piled on top of a mound of chips. If you're not a big eater consider 1 between 2! Gravy wasn't great but then again, we're in Cornwall not Lancashire!

More often than not we get our fish and chips from here. We eat them in the car cos we cant wait. They really are lovely fish and chips. The hubby is a fisherman and is fussy about his fish but says it is always fresh from here. And the chips are proper potato. All round good fish and chips.
