“The Pefect Wedding Venue”
Reviewed August 11, 2011

Boscundle Manor is a supurb, warm, friendly and cosy Manor house set in peaceful woodland. The venue and staff make it a lovely semi rural retreat on the edge of St Austell, perfect for weddings. You get excellent service with efficient warm and friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble.
Boscundle Manor hosted my wedding which was perfect in everyway thanks to their attention to detail. It is a wonderful old manor which is beautifully furnished and presented, with gorgeous surroundings and excellent food.

Room Tip: Provides a variety of different sized rooms, all beautifully furnished with their own name and chara...

Very friendly staff and excellent quality food. Accommodation is expensive for what you get.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main house.

I booked this hotel for my husbands 30th birthday. We were given a free room upgrade (to Rebecca) which was brilliant for our 1 year old daughter who could toddle up and down the hall and come to no harm. The room was fantastic, the decor and furnishings were beautiful and the jaccuzzi bath was very nice!. We ate in the restaurant- the food was delicious and they were so accomodating for our daughter, from her choice or evening meal(basically they would try and cook what ever we wanted) to setting the table with her highchair in the morning ready for us. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice to suit everyone. We used the indoor pool which was clean, tidy and a good temperature. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to us the gardens, but they looked well kept and very nice. You cannot fault the staff, nothing is too much trouble and they are all so welcoming.

I had a two day stay here as a surprise for my Birthday recently and what a lovely hotel! The service on arrival was friendly and warm with coffee and chocolate cake provided outside in the sunshine and the high standard of service continued throughout our stay. Our room was upgraded at no cost from a cottage to one of the hotel rooms - and though the room needs a little TLC ( not massively) it was interesting and spacious - the red bathroom being the interesting bit! but it was in keeping with the Scarlett Room we were given. The restaurant services lovely grown up food and there was nothing that I didn't enjoy in the 3 course meal that we chose.
The indoor pool is spotless and pleasant - and the hot tub is delightful to sit in as the sun is going down
I recommend this hotel and will definately consider going back again at a later date.

We were treated to an evening meal by our daughters for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and by my wifes mother for a stayover, what a fantastic venue this is. We stayed in "Emily" and the room was beautiful and certainly luxurious.
The evening meal was superb with everything cooked to absolute perfection. We were looked after by Ian and the service was first class from start to finish. We would highly recommend this lovely place in its very rural setting and would love to visit again one day.

This was a wedding event with 18 people, the whole place was booked for the Saturday wedding but most guests also stayed the Friday night.

A lovely place for a wedding, with a great selection of rooms, cottages and facilities along with gardens and pools, even the outdoor hot tub in the drizzle was wonderful.

The food in the restaurant and for the wedding breakfast was just spot on.
The owners and staff couldn't have been more accommodating and Ian particularly was a gem, the whole thing was relaxing and efficient. We felt welcomed from arrival to departure.

The hotel is certainly quaint and on arrival has the wow factor.
When booking we advised that we had two elderly relatives with us - would the cottages be suitable? We were told 'yes' as there was a 'buggy' available to ferry us backwards and forward to the main hotel. What a mistake. Apart from the first evening when Ian took up the ladies (it broke down half way up and they had to walk the rest of the way!), the buggy was only available for self drive. In the event, it was such a steep and bumpy hill up to the cottages, that I deemed it unsafe for the ladies to 'hang on' on the back and we consequently had to take our car up - each journey up and down the hill was hair raising, being so narrow, winding and steep.
For the less mobile, there were no hand rails on the stairs - either inside or out of the hotel. The ladies were unable to access the swimming pool area at all.
My husband would have liked a spa treatment - we were there three nights - of the two full days we were there, the therapist was booked up for half a day and was not 'in' for the other one and a half days.
The second morning at breakfast, the staff gave our table in the breakfast room away to some guests who were hungry and arrived early. We were offered a place in the dining room but declined this; the breakfast room being light and airy. We waited a further 20 minutes for the table to become available and then most of the self service breakfast items were not available.
On the second evening, we returned at 9.30pm to have a drink at the bar, finding it shut up and no staff available to assist us. Eventually the owner appeared and, after she finished a lengthy phone call, we asked her to open the bar. This she did - we were served unpalatable coffee. She said she had sent the 'boys' home early as no-one had eaten in the restaurant that night!
On the plus side, the hotel has beautiful rooms and is pleasing to the eye. The swimming pool, if you can access it, is very peaceful. The public areas are very pleasing. The location is excellent, being near to the coast and the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
