“A real gem of a holiday park”
Reviewed May 24, 2012 via mobile

Myself, my partner and 2 children stayed here for a long weekend over the May bank holiday at the start of the month.

Our caravan was clean and well equipped and the park itself was tidy and quiet.

The amenities are a bit on the lacking side but it was perfect for us. The swimming pool was a real bonus and the kids loved it.

If I had to say any negatives it would be that the bar menu was uninspiring and we didn't eat there at all and that the arcade for the kids needs to be brought up to date.

Overall this park is excellent value for money, in a perfect location and we wouldn't hesitate to book again. We had a lovely time there and the staff were superb.

We stayed for a week at the end of April 2012. We have stayed here before but this is our first time back after 9 years and we can honestly say that it is still a lovely place to stay and well kept grounds. The staff are always busy keeping it clean and tidy. This is a perfect base for visiting the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. We stayed in an F type caravan overlooking the touring park and we were delighted with the size of the main bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space and room to move around either side of the bed plus a further wardrobe/shelf cupboard and dressing table. They had even left two portable electric oil radiators for chilly nights which was handy. After a long journey it was nice not having to make the bed as this was made up for us on our arrival. Will definately be back soon.

We have visited the Sun Valley Holiday Park 6 times over the past 20 years and have to say it is a lovely place to stay. We always use the caravan accomodation as we like caravaning. The park has pleasant grounds and is very green and wooded and ideal for families.
The facilities are very good and there is a small shop where the staff are always on hand and most friendly.

We will return in the near future.

My friends and I stayed over the Easter hols and booked into a very clean and well equiped caravan. We came down to play golf and had a brilliant time at Porth Pean golf club that had fan tastic views over St. Austell Bay and was only ten mins drive away. The Sun Valley staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you. Why doen't they do a deal with golfshakes.dot.com and offer a golf deal? Club house and swimming pool were top class. I would have liked more entertainment though, bingo or karioke perhaps.

Anyway can't fault the staff or site. You can book here with confidence that you will get a good deal.

Room Tip: You can book with confidence of getting a good holiday

Just returned from 2 nights stay at the Sun Valley, which was very pleasant and will be looking forward to return again soon. Me and my husband stayed in our Campervan on a very generous pitch. The facilities where clean tidy with very nice hot showers. If I had to be very picky some of the hand dryers didn’t work but this really want a big deal but might be for others.
Swimming pool was lovely, again very clean. Didn’t try out the club house or food so I cant really comment, But the prices looked reasonable.
The campsite was lovely with friendly staff, generous pitches, peace and quite. Me and my Husband will be back for another visit sometime in the future.

After having stayed at Sun Valley for many years, we continued to stay there when it was sold on.
All I can say is it was a nightmare and has gone totally downhill. Caravans were unclean and the shower base had a square of lino put on the base instead of renewing it. The fridge door didn't shut, the clubhouse was empty most nights and the food a rip off.
A majority of friends I met over the years of going to Sun Valley no longer go there either.
I can no longer recommend it to anyone and a friend who did book to stay there ended up leaving and staying elsewhere and paid twice for their weeks holiday.
There are lots of other places in Cornwall to stay that are clean and good value for money look for them we did !!!!

In reply to this review we find it inaccurate and vindictive. The standard of cleanliness at Sun Valley is very high. We are inspected by the British Touring Board who have for a number of years awarded Sun Valley 5 stars and Rose Award for the caravans. The AA awarded us 5 pennants. David Bellamy awarded us Gold. The person who was supposed to have left and paid twice for another holiday is completely unknown to us. With regard to the clubhouse food being a rip off, a meal of homemade lamb, potato and onion pie in a rich gravy with potato chunks and peas served with chips is only £7.45. We also find is strange that someone who had such a terrible holiday in August wrote this review in March.
The majority of our guests return year on year. They would not return to a 'Nightmare'.

My famil and I stayed at Sun Valley on the back of a recommendation but decided to stay in the Apartments instead of the caravans. For £900 a week we expected a decent quality of stay.
We eventually got to our front door (after negotiating 10 very slippy steps) and walked into what can only be described as an 80's throwback!!!
Everything is in dire need of updating, furniture, curtains, carpets the lot. The worst bit was the bed, if you call it that. It was more like sleeping on a springy crisp bread. You felt every spring every time you moved. After 2 days of a shocking nights sleep I spoke to an old chap at reception about our problem and all he had to say was "no one else has ever complained!!!"
The springy was eventually changed to a brick!!!!
Anyway.... The clubhouse was always empty other than when they had a local entertainer come along ( who was quite good actually). The times we ate in the we found the food ok if not a little expensive for what you get.
We eventually left a day early if not to get a decent nights sleep elsewhere, which we did thankfully.
All in all it was a shocker an certainly won't be going back.

Many thanks for the review, although not a good one i wecome all comments .
I do entirely take your opinion on board but many people stay in the apartments and return year in year out.Apart from the matress described (which i shall now address) your other comments were entirely subjective.
Our clubhouse is offered as a facility for guests who have been on a long day out and dont feel up to eating out at the many restaurants in the surrounding area`s.
We are aware that we dont compete with these and dont try to,what we do offer is somewhere comfortable and clean to have a meal or drink with the entire family while not having to worry about finding a child friendly pub and who will be on driving duty afterwards.
Again thanks, your comments have been taken on board.
