This place deserves all the rave reviews on tripadvisor and elsewhere, it's absolutely superb and is way beyond the usual self catering fare. We stayed in Trerose cottage with our 17 month old son, and had a brilliant week. Pat and Dave have thought of absolutely everything to make this the perfect holiday for families with young children, and our little one was in his element toddling around the farm, feeding the animals and playing in the playbarn every day. He's looked positively mournful since we got home :(

On arrival, we were given a very warm welcome and a tour of Bosinver's facilities in the beautiful evening sunshine, and this set the tone for our whole stay. As other reviewers have mentioned, every piece of kit you could possibly need was either in the cottage, or available from a nearby storage shed....from plastic kids tableware to toys (our son's face when he first discovered the large toybox sitting in a corner of cottage was a picture!) to wellies, bbqs, fishing nets...the list goes on. There was also loads of information provided, both in a folder in the cottage and at reception (available to borrow), everything from details of local amenities to ideas for family days out, recommended beaches and restaurants, and OS maps and walking routes. All this really helped us get the most out of our week in Cornwall, and completely took the stress out of it.

The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and the table laid for tea and cake when we first walked in, which was a really nice touch after a 6 hour car journey. Trerose has some luxury touches, like granite worktops in the kitchen, a great farmhouse style dining table and a woodburning stove in the living area, but is also really practical for toddlers with an open plan layout, all on one level.

The activities and facilities at Bosinver for kids (and big kids!) were a real highlight for us. Feeding the resident goats, sheep, chickens and ducks with Farmer Dave each morning was a huge amount of fun. The playbarn was also excellent, really well equiped with plenty of space to run around. And the idea to have a cross-trainer and treadmill in the same room so the adults can get their workout done at the same time is inspired! There was also loads of other stuff that we didn't even have time to make use of, from the games room (a proper pool table, table tennis, table football and more) and swimming pool, to weekly pony rides and a "wild kids club". You could probably have a pretty good holiday without leaving Bosinver at all!

One other highlight for us, was the food available at Bosinver from Cornish Cottage Cuisine. We had pre-ordered a few frozen meals and they were so delicious we ended up buying more from the "top up" freezer at reception. Highly recommended if you want a break from cooking, and easily as good as any of the pub food we had while we were in Cornwall.

And to top off all the great things about Bosinver, we thought the location was fantastic. It was a 15 minute walk to a great local pub and village shop in Polgooth, and a 20-30 minute cycle ride (mostly along a lovely offroad cycle route) or 5 minutes in the car to cream teas and a sandy beach at Pentewan. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project (both a fantastic day out) are both about 10-15 minute drive, and there are several beautiful beaches and villages within 10-20 minute drive. The local town of Fowey was particularly worth visiting, a beautiful setting with great views over the harbour and loads of great shops, restaurants and tea-rooms, all very family friendly.

Overall, Pat and Dave have created a magical holiday destination for families with young children which exceeds anything else we've come across in the UK. We can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed a fabulous week in The Farmhouse in August, 3 generations all under one roof. The house was very comfortable, beautifully presented on our arrival (table laid for tea and sponge cream cakes !) and the attention to detail was evident. Everything we could have possibly wanted, from fishing nets, wellies, barbeques, suggested jogging/walking routes were there to be borrowed. We wanted the grandchildren(aged 1-7) to experience the type of holiday that we'd had as children, the unsophisticated fun and enjoyment of the simple pleasures of being on a farm and..... they absolutely loved it!
What with the freedom to roam in safety, animals to feed and ride every morning, collecting eggs with farmer Dave and Helen, the daily visitation of ducks, cockerels and wild rabbits in the garden, plus a wonderfully warm outdoor swimming pool it was difficult to get them interested in going to the beach !! Bosinver is a warm and welcoming place and I'd definitely recommend it.
The holiday was a great success and the kids keep asking us when we can go again - wish this place had existed years ago when our children were young.

Thank you for your feedback. We're thrilled you had such a great holiday at Bosinver! We're seeing a lot more families holidaying with three generations now and enjoying a more traditional style break. We hope to see you again in the future!

We had a great week at Bosinver and agree that it's is not just a place for those with young families. We stayed in the Farm House and had lots of space and all the amenities that we you could need (apart from Wifi which would have been nice in the house, though there is a computer room to use when you need it).
The properties are well spaced out from each other in a subtle way and the areas all nicely landscaped and looked after.
The staff and the owners were all pleasant and helpful and there is a general feeling of it being a lovely place to stay.
The hens, ducks and rabbits sitting in the gardens were fun to watch even for the big kids!
Books and DVD's to borrow, as well as tennis, table tennis and fishing - lots to do all included in the price only extras being electricity and the laundry room.
A great place to visit - wish we had found it years ago.

Spent a lovely week in apple cottage in May with our Labrador dog. The cottage was perfect for two with a lovely balcony overlooking the fields. The cottage was peaceful and secluded and we weren't disturbed at all by the other residents. Farmer Dave popped over on our first night to check if we had everything we needed. Although the park is widely advertised for family holidays it is also prefect for couples wanting a relaxing week away and is close to many local attractions. We were able to walk the dog in the large field and around the wooded area each morning. Great pub, polgooth inn less than 15 minutes walk from the farm where we were able to sit out on the lawned area or eat inside the cosy bar with our dog. Great food and we chatted with holiday makers and local alike. Loads to do in the area with fantastic walks and beaches. We will definitely return.

Our holiday exceeded our expectations in many ways and some of those can be credited to Bosinver! The space in the farmhouse was perfect for our extended family of 12. There were some wet days and we felt relaxed about spending time in the house. However, the things to do around the farm site were fantastic. The boys loved the playbarn and made up their own games there as well as enjoying the "right" way to use the play aparatus; several good games of hide and seek, I-spy and active hunting games on the mosaics outside. The trails and wellie hunt had them outside in all weather conditions without so much as a whinge and the 5 year old opted to go straight round the Gruffalo trail twice. We had a lovely time on the zip wire / big tyre and big slide in good weather and made friends with another family there. As adults we felt that everything was safe but adventurous due to the creative thinking behind the installations but also excellent maintenance. Nothing jarrs on the landscape and the way the site is planned makes every day a new adventure. When our 4 year old drew a picture of his holiday in the visitors book he decided to draw a treasure map and commented "...because I found treasure every day!" My sons-in-law rediscovered a love of tennis and we all enjoyed chasing stray balls, watching from the bank and keeping score. Grandad also loved the tennis but was a bit rusty and tore a muscle in his calf in his enthusiasm. Bosinver proved a great place for family that can't spend too much time together normally. It was a treat to be able to spend such quality time with grandchildren in such a lovely setting.
