Heard a lot about this place only having moved to town a year ago. Before it changed hands I hear that it wasn't too much to write home about, but since then I must say that this has been our best dining experience in st. Austell. The food is not too fancy, they don't confuse you with fancy names and exotic ingredients. Instead they provide a menu that I would say, would cater to even the most traditional pallet, including a daily specials menu. Generous portions and fast service rank this well above average. From seafood to steak and caramel bananas to brûlée all is delicious. The staff are every helpful, polite and always happy to help. The restaurant and bar are immaculately presented. It can get busy and with that very noisy, so don't always expect a quiet evening. Parking is limited! You can however park just around the corner in a side lane 100 yards from the establishment. Been 4 times since moving. This is one of the best places to dine in st. Austell.

Our first visit. Nice decor, nice ambiance. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was nicely presented and cooked. One of us had the sea bass which had an excellent sauce, spoiled only by being saltier than we are used to. The other had the slow roast blade of beef which was also very good. Overall a good restaurant and deserving of the good reviews it gets.

Based on previous reviews we expected much more but left disappointed. Firstly, car parking is at a premium. The restaurant was full and the car park even more so! When we eventually managed to park the car we went into a very busy and noisy restaurant but were pleased to be shown to our table straight away.

To start we ordered Butternut Squash Soup and Pulled Beef Arancini balls. My Wife's soup was very good although the croutons were overdone (burnt). Unfortunately my Arancini balls had no flavour at all and were very dry.

So to the Mains. We had the Sea Bass and the Burger with 'Posh' chips (covered in Truffle Oil & Parmesan). The Sea Bass was cooked well but was overpowered by the taste of pepper and the sauce was too salty. The burger itself along with the relish and cheese was very nice but was in a burnt bun (black) that could not be eaten and as for the 'Posh' chips, they were not good at all but that may have been down to my taste (I'm not sure it was though!)

The Waiter asked how our meals were and we gave honest feedback that he passed on to the Manager. On paying the bill we gave our feedback to the manager but we really don't think she was at all bothered as we were not local.

We certainly will not be returning
