Went with friends but were given dirty knives and forks. Asked for them to be changed and were given filthy ones in there place. A "Fully Loaded Jacket Potato" came out with NOTHING in it. They then served up the food but the cutlery had not been replaced. By then we were worried about how dirty the kitchen might be and some of us could not eat our food. WILL NOT BE REURNING!!!!!!!

Went along on a Monday hoping to have a 25% Monday special - but it was a bank holiday, so we were told it was not a real Monday...

We hadn't reserved a table and were told it would be a 15 minute wait. 40 minutes and seeing three other couples get tables ahead of us we finally got a seat at one of three already vacant tables.

I had the sirloin steak and chips, which was so fatty and gristly that a third was left on the plate.

Not the best restaurant experience, although it would probably be ok for a quick pizza or pasta.

We visit St Austell Frankie and Bennies regularly (at least once every 3-4 weeks) and have always found the staff to be extremely friendly, the food portions large, hot and tasty and the atmosphere a lot of fun! Never had a bad experience here.

Can particularly recommend the garlic dough balls and the calzone - delicious!

It's a chain restaurant so if you want gourmet food, go elsewhere - but you'll pay twice the price!

As there are very few eating places that are opening in an evening in St Austell we chose Frankie and Bennys, knowing it was a chain we thought it would be ok. the waiting staff were ok, not overly friendly or attentive, whe I called to book a table for 8 they said they had a table but wouldn't take a booking, by the time we arrived there was not a table ready and we felt like we were putting them out by being there, the food was very average, quickly thrown together, not fresh at all and with greasy finger prints on the plates. We won't rush back

St Austell does not offer a great choice of restaurants and our consierge sent us to the only italian restaurant there. (italian-american actually)
We visited in midweek and it was full. I do not understand how that is possible as the food was really poor!!
I wish I had read the reviews before we went... we would have saved the evening going to any other place.
