We stayed in one of the Woodland homes for a week. The Woodland homes are very tastefully furnished with almost everything you need and you are allocated a parking space which is close by to your home. It is nice to have the choice when self catering to be able to use the facilities that the hotel offers, restaurants and spa etc. We found it to be in a really good position for exploring the surrounding areas.
A few things however could have really have improved our stay. We found that the reception staff, before arriving (on the phone) and during our stay, seemed to be not only unapproachable but also lacked knowledge about the Hotel and Woodland homes themselves, they could not advise on some very basic questions you would expect reception to know.
We did not realize that the hotel grounds were not a finished project yet, so the pleasure of taking a stroll around the advertised extensive grounds was soon cut short.
We arrived a little early to check in, so expected to have to wait and were told that our home was not ready yet. We waited right up until check in time, which was not a problem, however then no-one offered to show us to our home and when we went in we found that it was not as clean as we expected, for example dirty pans and dirty floors. We reported this to reception, but they did not even apologize.
Another tip for people staying in Woodland Homes, is that you will need to use a key to power up everything, so make sure you get enough so no one is left without a key or power.
Our restaurant experience was really good and the serving staff were lovely. We preferred the restaurant side over the Bistro.

We are truly sorry that the Woodland Home was not up to standard and please be assured that I have spent some of my time within this department to ensure that we raise the standards back up to where they ought to be. We have number of new receptionists, as demonstrated by their lack of knowledge but of course we continue to endeavour on-going training.

What a find this hotel and spa turned out to be.
We stayed two nights here, but wished we had stayed much more, we moved on to our next hotel, and regretted it bitterly.

The approach to the hotel tells you a lot about it, the grounds and reception are immaculate, the staff on the reception are a credit to the hotel, very friendly, and will have an answer to any questions you have.

We stayed in the rooms separate from the main hotel, beautiful chic rooms and views over the grounds.
We found the whole hotel, spa and restaurants fantastic, food excellent and good value ....

I'm sure we will stay here again. And would recommend it to anyone.

We booked this trip for a much-needed break to get away from it all and relax. It was everything we wanted and more. We arrived very early and didn't expect to be able to check in but were straight away informed the room had been cleaned, so we were free to get settled.

We stayed in a room called Clementina - which felt more like a suite. After taking in our amazing surroundings, we headed straight for the Clearing Spa. Just like the hotel, the spa was superb - and had everything we needed. While we didn't have any treatments, we used the pool, sauna and steam room throughout our three-night stay and absolutely loved it. Although it was half-term, it was not jam-packed with children - which was a pleasant surprise. Plus, even if it does get too busy, there are adults-only times to enjoy the spa which we were advised of by the helpful staff.

We had dinner on the first night, which was included in our deal from Secret Escapes. The food was excellent, portions generous and service superb. Breakfast was good although could maybe do with a little more organisation during the busy times.

The area is amazing. Short trips out in the car took us to Fowey and Mevagissy, both of these places we would suggest a visit but don't tell anyone else as we don't want them to get too touristy!! There were also many other places we wanted to visit whilst there but didn't get round to...this time!

Our stay at The Cornwall Hotel Spa and Estate was fantastic. Very romantic, relaxing and luxurious. We would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a superior room and were given the Clementina which, as we have said above, was more...

My partner booked this as a surprise for my birthday and I was very impressed.
Whilst I agree with other contributors the car park is slightly away from the hotel, the receptionist informed us that we could leave the car in the area outside reception to drop our bags off, and take as long as we needed!
We stayed in a wooden lodge on the top floor. It was excellent and the room and view were stunning. Huge bed, lots of space and a open plan bathroom which was novel.
We did use the spa everyday and it was lovely. I would highly recommend the spa facilities. We had a couples massage and it was incredible. I felt very relaxed afterwards.
We ate in both restaurants during our stay and both meals were delicious. One is more expensive then the other, however they do offer set menus in both for a cheaper fixed price.
Overall I would highly recommend - cannot wait to go again

The Cornwall Hotel is a lovely retreat! Service is excellent, food superb and the grounds are beautiful. On the first day of our stay, we booked a couple of massages and I have to say they were two of the best treatments we have ever enjoyed in a spa! Gym was good (take your own headphones or buy new ones for £5!) and breakfast was yummy too.

My only niggle was the soundproofing between floors. If I'd have looked at room advice from other travellers, I would have booked a room on the top floor. As it was, we had a lovely room on the ground floor in the new wing, but had very noisy neighbours above us and were kept awake until the early hours. Sadly the hotel couldn't move us but they were very understanding and dealt with our complaint very well. Secondly, be aware that there is no air con/ temperature control in the rooms and being on the ground floor I didn't feel safe leaving the door of our balcony open.... hence a rather stuffy and hot room (we like a cooler bedroom to sleep in!) Again, a problem that would have been solved should we have booked a room on another floor.

All in all, a lovely stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others seeking a relaxing stay in the Cornish countryside. I hope that the Spa/ leisure facilities don't become too overcrowded when the on site holiday homes open and additional guests can use the facilities.

Room Tip: 217 (the room above us) would have been a good choice!

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your recent stay. We have taken your comments on board with regards to noise from the bedroom above, this will not be a quick solution however on the whole there is not a lot of negative feedback regarding this, and understand that sometimes guests are not light footed but we all need a good night’s sleep nonetheless.

We had a lovely stay in a modern lodge. We found the reception not very helpfully and approachable. Dining in restaurant was lovely. A great location for visiting the area. The spa facilities were nice. We had great dinner in the restaurant
