“Warm, friendly and Ideal location to explore Cornwall”
Reviewed June 6, 2010

We have just returned from a short break in Cornwall and the owners of Spindrift, Linda and Mike, were fantastic. Their knowledge of the local area is excellent, the rooms are well maintained and the breakfast was hearty. More importantly though is Mike and Linda were prepared to go above and beyond what was expected. It was my mother-in-law's birthday while we were there and when we arrived for breakfast there was a small cake with a candle on it! Also, one of our party is allergic to dairy products and next morning Mike arrived with soya milk. These little things make all the difference. The location is great for all the local attractions. We'll be back. Highly recommended.

We were travelling around Cornwall for two weeks and hadn't made any reservations regarding bed and breakfasts. Spindrift Guesthouse is located near St. Austell and not far from Mevagissey, so it was simply ideal to do daytrips to the south coast of Cornwall. Lovely places like Mevagissey, Charlestown, Portloe, Fowey, Polperro,... are not far away, also Bodmin Moor is easy to reach by car.
The house is situated alongside the main road from St. Austell to Mevagissey and is therefore easy to reach. The drive goes up, so that the house is located away from the road, which makes it a very quiet place to spend the night. Simply ideal!
The room was very large, with a private lounge, and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and gave us a very warm welcome.
Breakfast was prepared and served with loving care.
The only downside was the fact that we only stayed for two days. We could have spend quite a bit longer! There's plenty to see/do in the area and Spindrift proved to be the ideal place to be staying.
So thank you, Spindrift, for making us welcome! We have very fond memories of your part of Cornwall!

We booked at the last minute with Mike and Linda at Spindrift, and what a fabulous 5 days we had.Located in a beautiful part of Cornwall, close to Heligan Gardens ans Eden Project (well worth visiting) Spindrift offered lovely comfortable accomodation, a proper english breakfast to set you up for the day and very helpful and knowledgable owners.  Our bedroom window looked over a beautiful wooded valley which led to the wonderful beach Pentewan,  we walked the Pentewan trail on 2 evenings and had supper in the local pub with a few pints of Cornish Ale.We would highly reccomend this as a place to stay and have booked their self catering accomodation for 2 weeks next year.

I found there to be a very friendy atmosphere with good food and comfortable accomodation. The guesthouse is just inside the hamlet of London Apprentice on the B3273 at a distance of 1.3 miles from it's junction with the A390. As you pass a general store and fish & chip shop on your right slow down and indicate for a right turn. There is a fairly large and visible 'Spindrift' sign on a pole at the foot of the drive. Unfortuneately as the drive is on the apex of a right hand bend it may well be missed unless driving slowly. However there is a convenient lay-by on the left if you shoot past the drive from which a U turn can be made - beware of traffic on this fairly busy road.
There is a short steep drive to negotiate straight off the road which must be taken in first gear but I found this to be no problem.
if needed supplies can be obtained from a Lidle store in St. Austell. To reach this go back to the A390, cross over the junction and go into st. Austell. The store is only a few minutes drive straight down the road .
The general store, fish and chip shop, bus stop and letter box are all within a 5 minute walk from the guest house.
