“An excellant restaurant.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014

Just returned from Austells where we had the most marvelous meal. The service is superb, Careen our waitress is very attentive without being obtrusive. I had the heritage tomatoes and goats cheese followed by the lamb, which was very good. The wine list was adequate but not extensive , and not over priced.
Overall I would say that is good value and well worth going too if you are in this part of Cornwall.

“High Impact flavours and smooth Wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014

Wow! When you arrive at Austell's it doesn't look much from the exterior, but from the minute you walk through the door it's 5*

We were greeted by Emma who was amazing and made us feel welcome within minutes. (She also bears a striking resemblance to a 90's pop sensation!)

Service aside the real draw card for this restaurant is the food. The chef's Pigeon special to start was an absolute gem. Served with a gingerbread puree that can only be described as 'Just yes' it had flavour, after flavour, after flavour flowing throughout the dish.

The mains were all superb, great meat, locally sourced and cooked to perfection with all the right seasoning. The lamb, served pink, was delicious and particularly well matched to the St Emilion.

Finishing up with a blackcurrant Creme brûlée served with espresso ice cream. The bitterness of the fruit was well balanced and the ice cream took the edge off just enough that it was still intensely zesty.

Overall a fantastic experience, delicious food and a creative menu, I will definitely be visiting again on my next excursion down to the South West.

“Excellent! Great food & lovely staff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2014

We had an amazing meal here, succulent tasty chicken, oozing chocolate fondant and good wine. The staff seemed genuinely happy to give brilliant service and beamed lovely smiles. The kitchen is open plan and the place spotless. Would highly recommend.

“Special touches and competent cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014 via mobile

My wife and I went here to celebrate our 1st anniversary whilst away for a few days and we are pleased we did! Well cooked and well seasoned dishes (the goats cheese salad and lemon sole were to die for) presented in a modern style. The best thing though was the small extra touches provided by the staff for our anniversary. It made it that bit special! I thoroughly recommend a visit here for very good food and great service.

“World Cup success on a plate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014

The location of Brett at Austell's as has already been mentioned is an anonymous local shopping precinct. It looks nothing on the outside but on stepping inside you'll find a shrine for the indulgence in sensual pleasures. A real foodie restaurant, with open kitchen and the lovely Emma to see to your needs (not ignoring the French lady decanting drinks and the young beauty queen assisting Emma on the night).
It was World Cup Final night when we visited. We opted for the Sunday evening 'Pot Luck' menu, an absolute bargain at £24.95 for 3 courses plus coffee and petit fours. If Brett's food was International football the final score would be Brett 5* - opposition nil.
