Austell's made this family birthday extra special. Food and service was outstanding. The menu was wonderfully altered on request to accommodate our 7year old. A wonderful evening.

We spent an evening looking for this restaurant thinking it would be in St Austell. Its actually in a residential road near Carlyon Bay outside St Austell ( which I wouldn't recommend you visit at all ) I would recommend you find Austells during the day if its dark early at night.
Austells the little gem in a row of stones. You would pass it by if you weren't looking for it. Its at the end of a parade of restaurants, shops and takeaways.

It is run by young enterprising people Brett and Emma. Emma our waitress and Brett the Chef and I think others.

We received a lovely sweet welcome from Emma. The restaurant is modern and warm. You can see Brett working in the kitchen. All food is made freash so there was quite a time before our meal arrived. However while you wait you are offered complimentary freshly baked warm bread with rapeseed, balsmatic and herb butter to dip and olives to keep you going.

When we first looked at the menu we were all very quiet and concerned. It looked pretty limited. No steaks on that evening. However, there was fresh locally produced fish, chicken, duck and other meats. We needn't of worried. The food was wonderful. My fish was delicate and the duck and lamb tender and tasteful.

The cost at the end was great value for money. It was a delightful evening and we had a chat with Emma who explained their history. This young business is well worth the hunt and we wish them all the best in their business. We definetly will be back when next in Cornwall.

We went to Austells on a Tuesday night whilst holidaying off season in January. It was a quiet night but only to be expected.
The food and the dishes served in the restaurant are wonderful though you don't "get this" from the menu. But read/ see beyond the descriptions and you will be truly amazed if you appreciate good food cooked to perfection. Between us we had the pollack, the lamb and the duck and all three arrived looking amazing. Of course appearance is important but the tastes and flavours of all dishes were amazing too. I cannot tell you how everything just worked, looked perfect and how much we enjoyed everything. The service is great with additional touches like the home made caramelised onion bread with rape seed oil and balsamic vinegar and the home made White chocolate fudge served with coffee.all this contributes to a perfect evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal and would definitely recommend it. Try the croquettes of rice pudding if you like desserts. You'll never taste anything like it. A truly wonderful selection of mains and desserts .Sophisticated and appealing to people who appreciate good food.

Well done to all the team and staff there and good luck for the future.

We had long meant to eat here, based on the positive T.A. reviews and recommendations from friends, but were encouraged to finally book a table when my niece and her husband gave us a gift certificate for Christmas.
The food was lovely, the service good (not rushed but not too long between courses either) and the wine list interesting and sensibly priced. The final bill was very reasonable given what we had (everything!) and only just exceeded the value of our gift certificate. Couldn't be better.
Gift certificate or not we will definitely return and will be bringing friends and/or relatives when they visit.
