“Love the Aggie”

Have stayed at the hotel most years over the last 10 or so. The current family running the place are a friendly bunch and the breakfast you get is fantastic. The rooms can vary in terms of decor but all are clean and if you enjoy the bar as much as I, you will spend very little time in the room anyway.

Just got back from the St Agnes and I must comment on the hotel. We had the room commented upon by uigsky and I honestly cannot understand what the problem was. The room overlooks the lovely old church across the road and is very quiet as it is on the top floor. The stair case in the hotel runs sideways this being the case, the owners have put up walls on each landing that include windows not only are these a safety precaution as they contain fire doors required by law they serve to insulate each floor from any noise from the pub below. The hotel dates from the 17th century and as such is not a perfect box like a structure that you may find in a Travel lodge it has many old and interesting features and is quirky in places. The food is superb and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I booked a table for dinner and we were originally put near the door to accomodate the dog. Upon arriving we had been moved to the opposite end of the room as the land lady didn't want my grandaughter to be in a draft. This thoughtfulness was reflected through all of the staff throughout our visit. The hotel has a large car park to the rear and access is available through the back entrance a bonus in most Cornwall towns. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to returning on our next trip

We recently returned from a wonderful stay at the Aggie.

The staff and owners were very welcoming and our room was lovely. It was actually exactly the same room shown in some of the pictures on this site and although I appreciate that everyone is entitled to their opinion, we found the room to be very welcoming, clean and most definitely not smelling of Jeyes fluid... The whole hotel has a lovely atmosphere, the food from the restaurant is great and we will most definitely be back.

Lovely location for some great walks and views. Basic but very comfortable and well equiped rooms, although some parts of the building are a little 'tired'.To be honest, we feel this adds to the ambience of the place as it has an incredibly relaxed approach but manages to accomodate all kinds of needs.Dog friendly, good food, live music and the people are fantastic. A happy cheerful place. Well worth a visit.

We stayed one night at the St Agnes Hotel – thank goodness it was only one night. The whole hotel is grubby and smells of Jeyes fluid. The stairway leading to our room was like climbing the stairs to a grubby bedsit, with dirty floors / carpet and grubby walls. The room was tired, dank and very unwelcoming.
We will definitely not be back.
It is such a shame, because the staff were lovely...

Had to go to the Aggie to meet up with the family for a funeral... have to say that Bill the landlord was excellent and kept all our spirits high... fabulous atmosphere, locals really friendly and they even organised that we could watch the Rugby Cup early in the morning with a lovely cooked breakfast. Food is good, staff are very friendly and it was wonderful to meet Molly the Labrador who I could of brought home with me... If you want to enjoy Cornish life and mix with the locals this pub is a divine!

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the St Agnes hotel. I was there with my sisters and cousins for an improvised family reunion (to attend a funeral of a dear aunt). St Agnes hotel became not only a place to sleep but a focal point during the last 48 hours as we also had the wake there too. The hospitality and service was amazing and the food delicious. The cooked breakfast was huge AND great quality and dinner (we ate there both nights) was wonderful. We stayed in a family room with bathroom (which became a bit of an all girls dormitory) which was clean and functional. The room was at the back of the hotel and was quiet with no view but we only needed a clean and comfortable place to sleep. Also very dog friendly too (we had a chocolate lab in family room too!). Great value for money. We will be back!
