“The best meal I have ever had!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

We visited the Driftwood yesterday evening and i must say it was simply the best restaurant experience we have ever had, the staff were brilliant in helping us decide which starters and main courses to go for, we were struggling to decide and they broke each dish down fully explaining each intricate part, which really helped to make our minds up. The main course of sirloin steak with the feather-blade was simply the best meal I have ever had! I cannot describe in words how perfect it was. I would really recommend you visit this restaurant for a truly wonderful experience.

Stunning location and very quirky. Comfortable nice sleep and management that are welcoming and relaxed. Slightly isolated if you don't have transport but was thoroughly looked after. Won't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone heading south. A welcome break while on a work trip.

my sister and I spent 4 wonderful days at Driftwood. It is a lovely small hotel with very attentive staff and great food. We spent the first night in a deck room and then moved to the Cabin.

The Cabin has been described in previous reviews as 'rustic' and it is. But it is comfortable and provides total relaxation away from the main hotel, with the facilities of the hotel nearby. But it is not suitable for a person with walking difficulties as there is a very steep incline to get back up to the hotel.

The beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in in a hotel.

We tried the tasting menu, expensive but worth it and the accompanying wine choices were perfect.

The gardens overlook the sea with seating hidden away in little alcoves.

Room Tip: The deck rooms are lovely with an area to sit outside the patio doors. For total isolation try the...

Driftwood hotel and its Michelin star restaurant is an oasis of tranquility.
Rooms lovely, we had an upstairs room in the adjacent building to the main house, would have loved one on ground floor as these have a patio. Our room was well equipped with big French windows overlooking the beach and sea. The attention to detail is excellent, our bath plug broke, when we returned in he afternoon, it had been repaired without having to ask.
The hotel has a path down to the beach and will supply beach towels, (in a basket ). They have lovely gardens with little nooks all with views of the coast, complete with wooden deck chairs. The restaurant is light and airy, food delicious, we tried the tasting menu on one of our four nights, good wine menu and bar area for pre and post dinner drinks. Breakfast is lovely, try the granola,
they don't serve lunch, but do serve cake and Cornish cream teas from 3pm until 5pm, and drinks are available throughout the day. Families are welcome, they have a small play room.
Cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms in adjacent building on ground floor, Cabin looks great if weather is good, as have to cross g...

Although we live in Cornwall, we retreat to the Driftwood if we seek a short escape with excellent food & a great setting. Driftwood is slightly quirky but that gives it character. The hotel is small, very friendly & sits in a really peaceful location in attractive gardens overlooking the bay. Facing East, it is sheltered from the SW winds. The restaurant deserves its Michelin rating, & the service is always excellent.
Highly recommended!

We had dinner at The Driftwood last week - the service, food and atmosphere was faultless from start to finish. The staff are very friendly and extremely efficient, the food is excellent and beautifully presented. Yes it's an expensive evening but we knew that before we booked, having looked at the place and its menu online.
Thank you to the staff in the kitchen and the front of house - it was a fantastic evening and we will go again next time we are in Cornwall - highly recommended.

Room Tip: We didn't stay at the Driftwood, just had dinner there - but we will one day.....

Driftwood is without doubt one of the finest places we have stayed. The friendliness; the ambience; the decor; the location overlooking the sea with a private beach below; the lovely landscaped gardens; easy access to the coastal path; and food to simply die for. It's Michelin starred and it's not hard to see why. We stayed for three nights and the food was sublime each evening. The level of detail was everything you would expect from a Michelin starred chef. Even the bread was simply exquisite. Our room had fabulous coastal views and three nights was not enough. No pretence; no arrogance; no stuffiness - just wonderful service; magnificent setting and mind-blowing food. We WILL return.

Room Tip: Stay in whichever one you choose for as many nights as you can - it's wonderful!
