My girlfriend and i stayed at the Glenglos while we were down in Rock for a wedding.

The hotel itself wass nice but the nightmare we had with paying for the room and the deposit we paid have left a bad taste...

Paid £150 deposit on the room prior to our stay, then they charged the full amount for the room when we checked out in a rush. When we got home, we checked how much we had paid for a deposit and contacted the hotel to get this refunded. Rather than refunding my girlfriends card they went on to charge her another £150!!!!

They dont have thier own credit card reader onsite and call through all transactions to another hotel in Padstow, so if you do decide to stay at this slightly over priced venue, check and check again before you leave that you have been charged the correct amount.

This is a gem of a find , altough our room was spacious the hotel feels quite small ,almost like a bed and breakfast however its done with such style you come away feeling really well looked after. I found the price tag was large but overall well worth it ( It is Rock afterall !!!) we only stayed for one night but wish it could have been longer . it was a task to stop my wife from loading the lovely furnature into the car ! thorougly reccommend it. P.s to all the golfers who have not played st enedoc golf course in rock hesitate no longer !

We have just returned from a two night stay at Gleneglos. Our room was large and bright and very well decorated but had more than a few problems. When we arrived the room was overpowered by an air freshener. The smell was so strong that I wrapped it up and put it in a drawer for our stay. On our first night the bed squeaked sooooo much that we both resorted to earplugs but still spent a sleepless night. To be fair when we told reception in the morning they did follow up on it and offered to move our room to a smaller room or try to fix the bed. They took the bed to pieces during the following day and managed to stop most of the squeaking so our second night was spent in peaceful bliss. (To say sorry they did offer us a brandy on the house to help us sleep the second night - we would have preferred something off the bill.) The room was also hot and stuffy as the only window that we could open was in the bathroom and that just didn't get enough air in the room. Our other gripe was that the bathroom didn't have a shower and only had a very small bath. The pipes from the room above also came down through our bathroom and weren't soundproofed in any way so it sounded like Niagra Falls any time they used their toilet or bath. We only had breakfast at the hotel and both days it was fine - not outstanding but fine. Overall I think that they should be marketing themselves as a very good b&b not a hotel as they have no other facilities other than your room and your breakfast (which doesn't start until 8.30am). If you want dinner you have to know by 4pm that day and there is no form of room service. I don't normally have a moan about hotels but in this instance I thought that at £150.00 per night we were paying way too much for what turned out to be a b&b. For £15.00 more we could have stayed in Padstow at one of Rick Stein's St Petroc's hotel. Far more classy and a proper hotel.

We recently stayed at the Gleneglos for 3 nights, the staff and owner were very friendly and extremely helpfull. The setting was peacefull with a 15-20 minute walk to the Padstow ferry.
Value wise I thought it overpriced, having stayed in similarly priced hotels which had branded products in the bathrooms and interior designed rooms, this hotel did not have either. The breakfast was good but lacked a selection of fresh fruit or a fresh fruit salad, we only ate in the restaurant once and the meal was average.
The room was cleaned every day to a high standard.
The friendliness and helpfull attitude of the owner and staff did make up for the areas where we found it lacking.

We only stayed one night over the Easter break but I must say how lovely, peaceful and beautifully decorated the hotel is. It was our first trip to Rock and we were unsure of what to expect of the hotel and area. The hotel is some 15mins walk to the ferry point in Rock which itself is beautiful. We will definitely stay at Gleneglos when we next visit Rock.
