“A little gem!”
Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

We chose The Dining Room for a special family meal on Christmas Eve based on the past reviews: we couldn't have chosen a more stellar, impeccable, and friendly restaurant! From booking a table to the end of the meal, Donna at front of house and her staff were delightful and knowledgeable. Every course and amuse bouche were made of fresh, local ingredients that surprised with their flavour and taste combinations. Of particular note were the lamb two ways main and the salmon starter with apple ice (not ice cream, ice!). The wine list is also excellent. We hope many more discover this little gem in Rock! If you are looking for that Michelin-starred level of cuisine but in a humble, down-to-earth, yet very professional, classy environment, at excellent value for money, look no further...

“Amazing from start to finish!!”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

Me and my husband wanted somewhere a bit special to have our anniversary meal while we were in cornwall. I chose the dining room based in the previous reviews and we were not disappointed!!! The place was lovely, comfortable and nicely decorated, the hostess was lovely and friendly. The menu was amazing, seasonal and we wanted to try every dish! We were given some amazing nibbles and another dish before we'd even had our starter (they were incredible, so delicious and creative), then we had a starter, main and pudding (how could we not!).
When we were chatting to the hostess we mentioned it was our anniversary and at the end of the night she brought out a platter of lovely little sweet treats with the words 'happy anniversary' written in sauce! It was such a lovely unexpected touch!
An amazing experience! We like to eat at nice restaurants alot and i can say this was without a doubt one of (if not) the best meals we have ever had! would definitely recommend it to anyone thats staying in the area!!

“Completely amazing”
Reviewed November 18, 2013 via mobile

Was actually heading out of rock by car to padstow to dine at Rick Steins, the night ferry wasn't running as the weather was bad.
Spotted this place as we drove past and also a couple of empty tables, so swung the car around and tried my luck.
Well that was the best decision of our weekend in Rock. We were shown to a table by one of the excellent waiting staff.
The meals are first class everything we ordered took longer to talk about than eat and we're still talking about it!
This is quality Michelin star food within a lovely 'dining room' atmosphere and attentive waiting staff. Perfect. Can't wait to go back.
The chefs surprise including the most amazing gazpacho shells, I don't even know how to describe them - falls apart in your mouth and releases amazing flavours from within. A real treat and magical concoction.

Can't wait to go back.

“Just Superb”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Visited with my wife on 7th Nov. The room was decorated beautifully and a lovely warm welcome.
The amuse bouche was both a surprise and a delight - as was the whole meal. We enjoyed this more than Nathan Outlaw. When next in Cornwall it will be top of our list to visit.
