Was actually heading out of rock by car to padstow to dine at Rick Steins, the night ferry wasn't running as the weather was bad.
Spotted this place as we drove past and also a couple of empty tables, so swung the car around and tried my luck.
Well that was the best decision of our weekend in Rock. We were shown to a table by one of the excellent waiting staff.
The meals are first class everything we ordered took longer to talk about than eat and we're still talking about it!
This is quality Michelin star food within a lovely 'dining room' atmosphere and attentive waiting staff. Perfect. Can't wait to go back.
The chefs surprise including the most amazing gazpacho shells, I don't even know how to describe them - falls apart in your mouth and releases amazing flavours from within. A real treat and magical concoction.

Can't wait to go back.

Visited with my wife on 7th Nov. The room was decorated beautifully and a lovely warm welcome.
The amuse bouche was both a surprise and a delight - as was the whole meal. We enjoyed this more than Nathan Outlaw. When next in Cornwall it will be top of our list to visit.

This a gem of a restaurant and thoroughly deserves its number one rating above "Nathan Outlaw." ( We have eaten there and it is superb)
" The Dining Room " is fresh, clean and sophisticated, yet without pretension and the welcome is warm, informal but totally professional. The menu is small ( which I like) but imaginative and superbly considered.
Our taste buds were tantalised by a collection of amuse bouches which really showcased the chef's culinary creativity, the single spoonful of gloopy gazpacho simultaneously sent our eyebrows skywards.
My starter was by far the best pigeon dish I have ever tasted and my wife's take on a mushroom tart was inspirational.
Our mains of plaice and venison were both remarkable, with the several elements of each dish perfectly balanced and complimentary.
We didn't have a sweet but they also looked superb.
We have eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants and this one is up there with all of them, especially as the prices, as yet, are so reasonable.
It's so good to go home feeling thoroughly satisfied..........fantastic!!!!!

On a freezing night in April we were greeted warmly and from there we had a fantastic experience. Genuine care was taken to advise us of menu items and the food must be representative of a kitchen brigade with real knowledge, imagination and flair. Some of the ingredients seemed strange together on the menu but showed real talent as every course was delicious - I even took photographs as I wanted to remember every dish! A particular highlight was the beetroot risotto - I cannot praise it highly enough.
Overall, we would say that if you are in Rock you MUST dine here - you will not be disappointed.

We have enjoyed very good dining experiences at all those restaurants in this area that carry the name of a celebrity chef. The Dining Room has no celebrity chef, but thanks to TripAdvisor reviewers' recommendations we got to try this little gem and surprise, surprise … it was simply outstanding!

Everything went smoothly and efficiently from the initial booking, to the confirmatory emails and the friendly, smiling welcome from Donna and her assistant, Sarah. The evening was chilly and Donna wasted no time getting us to a table alongside a lovely warm radiator.

As the four of us were celebrating double birthdays a bottle of delicious multi-awarding winning Camel Valley Pinot Noir brut rosé from a local winery got us off to a good start. It proved to be a good partner for the superb canapés - one, a marvellous tomato and basil soup in a frozen shell that simply melted in the mouth, was a truly unique experience.

Two of us selected the lobster to start, while the others went for the partridge - a notoriously difficult bird to cook if it is to remain moist. Both starters were excellent.

All four of us went for the fillet of brill as a main course and we were not disappointed. Once again chef Fred Beedles got his cooking spot on.

Two of us were tempted by the dark chocolate ganache and another went for the local cheeses, all washed down with a glass each of muscat - yummy!

To end a super evening Donna presented us with a complementary plate of wonderful petits fours to mark the two birthdays.

When the bill arrived we were pleasantly surprised to discover that it was £100 less than our meal the previous evening with one of the local celebrity chefs.

With cooking, service and value of this calibre The Dining Room at Rock deserves to be a huge success.
