We have been coming to rock for years and have always enjoyed a visit to the mariners, this September we visited and i am sad to say it really has gone down hill the food was very poor, batter on fish really under cooked and a very dull ceaser salad with soggy crotons what a shame it is such a lovely place, come on mariners wake up to what you have in location and make your food match

Have been going to Mariners for years, there used not be much choice in Rock. The table was dirty the prices are a rip off. The worst thing by far is the attitude of the staff, having worked in a bar myself in the past, I know it can be trying but not to be acknowledged when waiting to be served together with almost an eye roll when asking politely for sauce is just not service. 2 new bars further down, much better, good food and friendly staff. Avoid!!

We stopped for an early lunch here as it had lovely views. After being seated we found the table to be very sticky although when asked the staff cleaned it straight away. The food was not very good quality, the BLT sandwich contained mainly fat for the bacon, the childs burger was quite gristly, there was no clotted cream for the scones and the batter on the fish was tasteless and soggy. The chips were good.

We stopped in for a late lunch one afternoon having rejected the cafes closer to the ferry landing which seemed to either lack charm, reek of chip fat or be full of screaming children. And which also seemed a bit over-priced from what we could see on people's plates.

We both opted for mussels and a pint, found a table outside and relaxed looking at the lovely view. We were delighted when the mussels arrived - delicious, plump and huge portions - along with some fries. All in all, good value and we'd definitely go again.
