“'Ooo this is lovely'”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

These were our first words on arrival coming down the driveway. We were greeted by a lovely young lady in reception. Our room was perfect, extremely clean and a most comfortable bed. We headed to the bar and greeted by Bruce, he was there for our stay of three nights. He was charming and a pleasure to talk to. We enjoyed good wine and local beer. I enjoyed the spa and it's surroundings and again with pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was really good with everything you could wish for and attentive staff. We had room service on our last evening and ordered the burgers - wow huge - lovely. This hotel was recommended by our daughter who lives in Redruth and we are due to visit again in April and we are very much looking forward to it. We run a family business and it was such a pleasure to stay in a family run hotel, it makes such a pleasant change from the large hotel chains. We found the decor fascinating especially the dining room. A very popular hotel it would seem, always guests staying. A message for Bruce ' get a pint of ginger tosser ready we will see you soon'

Stayed here on a Friday & Saturday night on a Groupon deal.
We were checked in a little too quickly for my liking. None of the facilities were explained. The hotel itself obviously has some history with its ornate fixtures and fittings. Some are just a bit of mish mash of bits thrown on the walls. I would go as far as to say it has a bit of a ' stuffy ' style.
We were originally put into room 162 in the Garden Suite. Room itself was large enough and had patio doors which led out to a decked area which probably would have been nice in summer.the bathroom was big and we liked the blue glass tile blocks. However the bed was tiny. It would have been fine to sleep 2 under 10's but not 2 average adults. I went down to reception and was told " all the rooms have the same size beds " by the middle aged lady with the dark shoulder length hair - no name badge. Her manner was brisk bordering on rude. When I got to the room I couldn't find the TV remote so I have rung down again and miraculously I was offered another room with a huge bed ( room 270 recommended ). So someone was telling porkies. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. A nice touch and quite a relaxing atmosphere.
I will cover the restaurant separately.
The breakfasts were probably one of the best I've had with a decent selection of dishes from kippers, eggs benedict and the full English. We also had room service on the second night. This came 15 minutes after ordering. The cheese board was awesome.
The bar was ok and the beer well kept. However I do object to paying £3.22 for a pineapple juice. Rip off. Cocktails weren't too bad ( the gin based one tasted of mouthwash though and needs to be removed ).
All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would stay again. There needs to be consistency with bed sizes as I couldn't have slept comfortably in the tiny double bed in 162. Staff didn't make us feel particularly welcome although I don't mind this as I just like to keep myself to myself. However May bother others.

Room Tip: Room 270 for a huge bed

We’re encouraged to hear that you would wish to make a return visit.

Generally bed sizes vary according to room category, therefore the beds would all be the same size in the room category that you booked; also, of course we may have had a cancellation, which then allowed a room with a larger bed in a higher grade room category to become available. On booking we will always try to accommodate guest’s requests, and therefore please do mention the bed size that you would prefer.

We’re pleased that you enjoyed the ambience and tranquillity of Penventon Leisure; and your experience of the excellent food and service provided by our Dining Galleries Restaurant team.

I’m unfamiliar with the price you quote for your bar drinks order. I have checked our pricing and all seems appropriate for individual items.

Thank you for taking the time to review, comments good and where room for improvement are always well received.

We look forward to welcome you back.

The room was beautiful , garden suite , the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The evening meal was really good , served to us by Alex a very polite and efficient member of staff.

The manager Paul was also very friendly and even bought me a birthday drink.

I cant wait for another stay here

We booked a voucher break at the hotel in February. Almost everything about the hotel was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was very good; breakfast & dinner. Generally everything was to a very high standard. However, the hotel has an active night-club, pub and event venue and the noise can be heard well into the early hours of the morning, even at the quiet end of the hotel.

I like to respond to reviews as quickly as possible, a little delayed, as I wished to investigate fully.

We understand that your stay was over the weekend at the time if an event in our ball room. The noise you heard was a dinner, dance.

Your upgrade on arrival to a Junior Suite, with our compliments, was to ensure that your stay was as far away from the function and as luxurious as we could provide. I could understand that you might hear the function from the terrace if you had the doors open, but generally, so far away there shouldn’t be any noise issue; however, I will investigate this during a future function.

We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay and we do hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future.

Me and my friend stayed here for a weekend away. On arrival we were greater by a lovely man on reception, he was very friendly and upgraded our room. We booked the hotel through group on which was an amazing deal. The massage we had was the best ever! The room was lovely and clean and fresh looking. Well worth the money we paid. Staff were really friendly and food was also very nice. The local town was 10min walk away but better to go shopping in Truro (bigger town), with lots of shops. Overall very nice stay :-)

Thank you so much for taking time to review.

You’re quite correct, we are well placed for touring Cornwall, and the city of Truro is a must for shopping and/or a show at our famous Hall for Cornwall.

We’re pleased that you also enjoyed our leisure and spa facilities, a must after a day’s sight-seeing or indeed shopping.

We have some great offers on our website, do come back and see us again soon; it would be our pleasure to welcome you back.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here at Penventon Park Hotel over the weekend that has just passed. We were greeted by warm, friendly staff who had reserved our table for our evening meal that night which was lovely to have arranged beforehand. Although we arrived at 7pm and our table was reserved for 7.30, we were told to take our time and to settle in the room and to come down when we were ready. Our weekend was booked through a groupon voucher where our 3 course meal was included on the first night. The menu was very extensive and we were able to mix and match between their 3 course set menu and the A La Carte menu. The food was divine and the restaurant was beautifully set out with a pianist playing beautiful music. Our room was absolutely superb and we had even had a complimentary upgrade. Thoroughly clean and immaculate, plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate on offer in our room. We used the spa on Saturday afternoon with full use of pool, jacuzzi and sauna. We received complimentary towels, slippers and dressing gown. The spa was lovely and the pool was at the right temperature! We ate at the hotel on the 2nd evening and again enjoyed beautiful steak with fresh vegetables and enjoyed a second night of piano music. The breakfast on both mornings were superb and I highly recommend the eggs Benedict! A full range of cereal, dried fruit, pastries, yogurt and plenty of juice , tea and coffee available.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would most definitely return to this hotel again which I am hoping will be possible in the not too distant future.
Staff were wonderful and made you feel very welcome.

Stayed here in a single room on business. First impressions--lovely old mansion with lots of nooks & crannies. Decor a bit dated (still got the old mahogany faced doors and green carpet) but the room itself was good and looked as if it had recently been updated. Staff & service excellent. The restaurant is a bit formal and you only have a choice of a three course set menu or the a la carte menu which is on the expensive side. Having said that the food was very good but I would have appreciated a simple bar menu where something like fish & chops or steak pie were available to eat in the bar/lounge area. Overall a good value hotel with excellent and helpful staff.

Our single rooms have been re-furbished and offer raindance showers and Hypnos beds; we’re pleased that these additions made for a good stay for you.

We do pride ourselves in providing fine dining and gracious hospitality; but we do understand that you may wish for a more casual dining experience.

Our “Spice of life” bar offers a more informal atmosphere, and we are happy to serve food in this area; our room service menu is available which offers individual dishes, such as home made burgers, pasta and Fish and Chips.

Thank you for taking time to review, we will look forward to welcoming you back.
